I'm completely fine with that as long as the only cars permitted in those lanes were also designed and built entirely by women.

Hahaha, and the roads paved by women too.

[–]colovick8 points9 points  (1 child) | Copy

I'd rather just call them unmanned vehicle lanes... It sounds less sexist.

[–]2 Senior Endorsed Contributorvengefully_yours1 point2 points  (0 children) | Copy

How about death by vehicular ineptitude/massive distraction lanes?

Requiring men to build things for women only, without corresponding men only facilities (like bathrooms), is slavery.

But anyway this is a joke. It's not even from the insurance company. It's a separate website that (presumably) they do not control.

If they do control it, I would never buy any insurance from them.

[–]iiMSouperman3 points4 points  (3 children) | Copy

It is from the insurance company. The Big wigs at the company proposed it a month or so ago, and genuinely believe it is a good idea.

[–]Esminia3 points4 points  (2 children) | Copy

It's merely a publicity stunt. I'm not omniscient, but no one can be this dumb into thinking this could be a good idea for anybody

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (1 child) | Copy

I'll just refer you to their website: http://www.sheilaswheels.com

Let me know if you reevaluate your opinion.

[–]Esminia7 points8 points  (0 children) | Copy

I didn't, every point of it still stands.

It's a company trying to pull off some publicity. They are a company, not the government. Some companies are known to have a "Do as I say, not as I do" moral rule. They don't think it's a good idea for road safety, they think it's a good idea for their profits. They make a living off the fear of accidents, What's a better way to propagate that fear than dividing the peoples by splitting them in half, and shifting the blame on the other half ?

When I say that "no one can be this dumb into thinking this could be a good idea for anybody", It's obviously an exaggeration.

On a related note, let's talk about the consequences of a potential TRP expansion. Suppose some rich alpha bought reddit from Conde Nast (more like took it off their hands, since it's probably barely breaking even; its only financial value is in a potential liquidity event) and turned TRP into a default sub. Now some here would obviously think that it'd be a "death knell" or a "kiss of death", since medium sized subs like this (approximately 100K subscribers) tend to degrade in quality after becoming a default sub. Well, so long as memes and stuff like that are removed by mods, it shouldn't be too much of a problem. One the other hand, the expanded audience would allow TRP ideas to permeate reddit and consequently the world to the point that real change would be enacted. I can imagine hordes of men eventually becoming "selfish" to the point that civilization as we know it would come to a standstill. That'll hit the feminists and their devotees where it hurts them. If men aren't doing their bidding, they'd have to roll up their sleeves and get to work, instead of sitting on their couch with their ipad while bitching online, munching on bon bons while stroking their cat.

[–]M_rafay3 points4 points  (1 child) | Copy

1) That sounds really far-fetched.

2) If there was such a person pre-disposed to doing that with us I would think RP would ask him very sincerely to please don't do that. Please do not take co-opt RP into movement or activism territory. Fuck "getting the message out". Absolutely fuck it.

Making RP even more maintream than it is the surest way to dilute its effectiveness.

[–]erqos0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy

Making RP even more maintream than it is the surest way to dilute its effectiveness.

That's a short-sighted thing to say, but I understand where you're coming from, since dudes have to get their dick wet. I was just wondering what the reaction would be to the proposal of trying to jam TRP down everyone's throats, so thanks for the input. I'm still wondering about the potential ramifications to society, but I'd imagine that it'd result in TRP guys getting less sex (as you fear), but society in general becoming more masculine, as in the patriarchy reasserting itself. Regardless, in time TRP principles will propagate whether guys here want it to or not; this would only change how quickly it'd happen.

[–]fodtp37 points38 points  (4 children) | Copy

And if they have an accident, only women firefighters should go to rescue them.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (1 child) | Copy

And police. Meaning that men can commit crimes against woman without punishment, because female cops have proven to be unable to stop and arrest men time and time again.

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points  (0 children) | Copy

I was thinking that I was fine with it as is. 99% of the time if I'm scared for my life while in a car it somehow involves a female driver.

How many people would have heard of this company prior to this piece? Genius.

...anybody who's English and had been near a TV circa 10 years ago knows of this car insurance company due to their shitty but catchy ad campaign they ran for the best part of a year in peak times on the most popular non-cable tv networks:

WARNING, THIS VIDEO IS ANNOYING AS FUCK:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yrKaQRIXPNw

Irony is "they make the safest drivers" (in their own words) and then at the end all of them have their hands up in the air... so nobody's got their hand on the wheel. LMFAO. Not a great example of superior female road safety is it? No. It is hilarious though.

[–][deleted] 9 points10 points  (1 child) | Copy

Try the parody version. Same catchy jingle, much better lyrics:

https://youtube.com/watch?v=rkiQUCKVUq8

[–]TRP Vanguard: "Dark Triad Expert"IllimitableMan2 points3 points  (0 children) | Copy

Haha, vast improvement. Far more creative.

[–]Blennerhassett1 point2 points  (1 child) | Copy

Inattentive female drivers, fuckin' save me.

Next time you are driving behind a woman at the wheel, just for shits and giggles, check out her rear view mirror. 50% eyes on the road, 50% eyes in the mirror on themselves.

The amount of my life lost at a red light turned green, waiting on a woman to put down her lipstick/compact/cellphone. Ugh.

While I'm ranting, I may as well address the false claim made by insurance company's that "women are better drivers than men" = lower premiums. Women are not better drivers than men!

These statistics are skewed by young idiot men, ages 17-25 killing themselves because of the belief they are bullet proof (we've all been there)

Women being better drivers must be news to the Motorsport community, surely a female is only WEEKS away from winning a Formula One race.....

[–]secretsauce00740 points41 points  (12 children) | Copy

I'd like for this to actually happen. Would probably make the standard roadways safer

[–]Traxalot13 points14 points  (2 children) | Copy

Thats what I was going to say, women have their own lanes and us men have the others. Win win I see here.

This may actually clear the middle lane of the worst offenders.

Where do I sign up!

[–]1cover2019 points20 points  (1 child) | Copy

Women know how unreliable other women are. So we'd probably have quite a few women in the non-pink lanes, thus really gumming them up.

If some lanes are women-only, the rest should be men-only.

[–]1kick610 points11 points  (0 children) | Copy

If some lanes are women-only, the rest should be men-only.

Yea, but that would be sexist. /s

[–]Endorsed ContributorRedBigMan7 points8 points  (2 children) | Copy

Yeah maybe we wont have to worry about women putting on their make-up and crashing into someone.

Also wasnt companies that only insure women banned in the UK?

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points  (1 child) | Copy

Yeah, Sheila's wheels do technically have to insure men. But their website design style is "OMG pink everywhere" and if you click on "get a quote", you have to scroll through a bunch of bullshit female titles that no one would use ever, including "lady" and "dame", before you get to "mr" tucked in right at the bottom.

[–]Endorsed ContributorRedBigMan2 points3 points  (0 children) | Copy

I'm just going to use the title Dr...Like Dr. Evil.

The amount of women driving on the standard roadway in this hypothetical situation would net less overall, including those who were indifferent to the tickle-me-pink roadways and never used them.

[–][deleted] 15 points16 points  (6 children) | Copy

Who is going to do the upkeep on these roads?

Who is going to come by when there's an accident?

I don't think there are a lot of women roadworkers.

I realize this whole thing is bullshit meant to draw attention to this company but it's just out and out stupid.

[–]ColdEiric16 points17 points  (0 children) | Copy

Didn't you know? Strong, independent women do not need men.

[–]Ausei7 points8 points  (2 children) | Copy

Street dept for a city here, they last for a week at most because the labor is grueling.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (1 child) | Copy

So, do you have to keep recruiting a constant supply of women to keep up with discrimination laws? Or do you just round up some butch lesbians and call it a day?

[–]Ausei0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy

Mostly a tight group, but if a woman applies she will be interviewed. Honestly I haven't been here long but I hear the stories crop up every now and then.

[–]RPDBF1 point2 points  (1 child) | Copy

I've seen an increase in women road workers, then again only one person does the work usually while 5 others are watching and one is holding a sign...

[–]IDefyAxioms0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy

Yep, I've only ever seen women holding signs. It's the older women that actually do some things along with the men, but men still bear the brunt.

[–][deleted] 12 points13 points  (1 child) | Copy

Notice how in all the pictures it's the fast lanes that are pink.

Again, flip the script. If someone proposed making all the best lanes blue for men only, feminists and SJW white knights would lose their minds.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy

I'm pretty sure they shooped it on to the fast lanes because no one would believe a woman is driving those HGVs.

[–]Johnny10toes6 points7 points  (0 children) | Copy

I thought women had their own lane. That lane to the left, by the median where they put on make up and go slow.

[–]phil6197 points8 points  (6 children) | Copy

I am sorry to say this UK brothers... but your country is turning to shit.

[–][deleted] 8 points9 points  (2 children) | Copy

You have migrant groups (particularly muslims) dragging the country one way, and feminists and white knights pulling it the other.

Eventually, something's gonna get torn. No wonder Scotland is abandoning ship.

[–]loin_fruit6 points7 points  (0 children) | Copy

I can see constant pile ups on the women's lanes.

[–]vpwnz3 points4 points  (0 children) | Copy

I'd be alright with it if it removed female drivers from the rest of the roads.

[–]serialstitcher5 points6 points  (0 children) | Copy

hahahahahahahahaha

What a PR Stunt.

[–]MysogynyIsFun3 points4 points  (0 children) | Copy

Funny how UK insurance stats show women make more insurance claims than men. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/article-4677/Women-crashes.html

[–]changshuaidiao4 points5 points  (0 children) | Copy

4 times as many men are convicted of traffic violations? More like 4 times as many women are let off with warnings by thirsty ass cops.

[–]Bottled_Void8 points9 points  (4 children) | Copy

53% of women involved in a traffic accident are badly injured, compared to just 38% of men

Now I'm not sure if I'm reading too much into this, but that seems like women are less likely to forsee the accident?

[–][deleted] 7 points8 points  (0 children) | Copy

Male body is also built to withstand worse trauma, so in identical situations men should fare better; higher bone density, tougher tendons and bigger muscles help in car crashes too.

[–]masturbator90003 points4 points  (0 children) | Copy

No, it means that when a man breaks a finger, he's gonna shrug it off as "shit happens", he's gonna go to the doctor, get a cast and that's it. When a woman breaks a finger, she's filing for disability status, she can't practice her job for four months and it really, really hurts.

[–]Greenspike252 points3 points  (0 children) | Copy

I know its a Bullshit PS stunt, but I really have one important thing to say:

Tires do not get very good traction when driving on roadway paint. Especially during the rain. Those pinkwashed roadways will be a deathtrap.

[–]santaincarnate2 points3 points  (1 child) | Copy

Ironically, offering different car insurance rates for men and women; hitherto "Sheila's Wheels" main selling point; is now illegal in the UK

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children) | Copy

Which is why they're coming up with bullshit like this. This is a last ditch attempt to remain relevant, methinks.

[–]Bucky_Goldstein2 points3 points  (0 children) | Copy

Good! women can build the steel structure for it, women can pour the concrete for it, women can build the steel decking for it, and then women can text and drive and crash into each other on it!

the funny part is that the only part about the previous statement thats true is the "text and drive and crash into each other"

its a perfect solution!

[–]1raceAround1262 points3 points  (0 children) | Copy

Of all my years driving, women are hands down the least aware, the most dangerous and all three accidents I've had, the other driver has been culpable and always been female not paying attention. And better believe they would hamster blame even to the cop I'd insist on calling.

The fact is in the UK, women USUALLY drive far fewer miles and more familiar routes such as taking kids to school. Men drive far more miles, usually unfamiliar routes or commutes and are typically lorry drivers, tractors, buses, etc.

So it stands to reason that if your exposure on the road network is more often and more precarious, your chances of being involved in an accident increases.

My ex refused to let me drive anywhere. Blue pill me accepted it. She not only was downright unsafe behind the wheel, she wrote off her car and blamed me for not maintaining it.

This despite being born and bred on the race track, had jobs that required me to drive a lot even to other countries and what have you. She would typically criticise my driving constantly and berate me until I got so frustrated or nervous that I would make some mistake. And then she would carry tgat on all day about how unsafe I was behind the wheel. And blue pill beta bitch who couldn't get laid took it all.

Let them have their lanes. I welcome it. And then let them ruin it all themselves...

[–]kempff0 points1 point  (1 child) | Copy

Looks like an interesting idea, but what are the dashed lines for, where are the crash barriers, and if a PinkZone user pulls over for car trouble how is help going to get to them?

[–]1cover204 points5 points  (0 children) | Copy

Since they rode in the pink lanes, it means they can only expect help from other women. Right?

[–]nicholmikey0 points1 point  (1 child) | Copy

This has to be a parody, but since it's politicians poe's law is in full effect

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy

It's just a laughing stock of an insurance company proposing it, they don't have anywhere near the political influence to make it happen.

Sheila's wheels basically built its entire image on selling cheaper car insurance to women. That was its only selling point. As of last year, insurers discriminating based on gender is now illegal, so they've lost said only selling point.

So, they come up with bullshit like this to try to get publicity.

[–]bh32440 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy

build a private road and you can do whatever you want with it.

[–]TacticalTactician130 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy

Where are the men only lanes?

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy

As long as they make men only lanes too.

[–]confuseacatlmtd0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy

Thank God get them the fuck off the freeway.

[–]AmazonExplorer0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy

You know, all these women would need is the support of the government, and they can basically take my money, to build their roads.

More and more each day I think about becoming Libertarian.

[–]darthsmokey0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy

I actually am in favor of this and would personally donate for this cause. Just hope it comes with a parking project too.

[–]Ossuari0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy

No i cant believe they are serious. Atleast they put some research in it
