I don't usually post threads. Actually, I never do. But I just wanted to share this post I stumbled across in /r/sex.

Basically, this 19-year-old guy's girlfriend was "raped" at a party. This happens, women sometimes get raped at parties, and if it happens, it should be taken very seriously. But the story he tells and the way his girlfriend is behaving makes this whole thing a little fishy.

  • First of all, she was "raped" by a close male friend. This doesn't discredit her story, but she was drunk at a party without her boyfriend. Sometimes, with a friend of the opposite sex, there's a little sexual tension between you two.

  • She's coping with it well. Again, this doesn't mean she's lying, but it does add to the suspicion.

  • She hopes this doesn't destroy the friendship she has with her "rapist". People usually don't want to be friends with their "rapist". Like, if my close friend shot my dog, I wouldn't want anything to do with them.

  • The vagueness of her story is another red flag. Either she was so drunk that she doesn't remember or she hasn't got her story straight.

  • She doesn't want to report it. Either she's afraid or doesn't want to relive what happened or it didn't actually happen and she doesn't want to be found out or she doesn't want her friend in prison for her lies. It could go either way.

  • The 19-year-old says he has a history of being cheated on and his girlfriend knows this. I don't know who his girlfriend is. She might be a great, understanding young woman, but then, she may not be. I, for one, wouldn't tell a woman about all of my past girlfriends cheating on me. I feel like that's basically telling her, "None of the women I've been with have respected me for some reason."

  • His blind trust of her hurt my insides. Just look at his second edit and his other posts. He trusts her completely for no other reasons except the "facts" that she's not that kind of person and would never hurt him.

All of these things alone probably mean nothing. If she got raped and didn't want to report it, that's normal. If he was just very trusting and loved his girlfriend, that's normal. But all of this at the same time? I think something's not right.

All the posts that hint at the possibility of her lying are downvoted, even though that's a realistic thought, especially based on the way the story was told. She's automatically believed without being investigated. This post isn't to denounce the whole female gender, I actually think that's one of the more ridiculous parts of TRP, this is more to show how naive and ignorant some men can be, to purposely ignore red flags and believe everything a person says because of their feelings for another person.

Is this story a little weird to anyone else or is it just me?

EDIT: It's actually the friendship with the rapist's girlfriend that she doesn't want to ruin. I still think this story is still a little off.
