I had some close friends in a similar situation. For years they we’re like best friends without ever being in a relationship. They obviously were still sexually involved. One day they had that same bright idea, justifying it by challenging societies ideas on what family and parenting look like and for some strange reason they thought they could do it.

Needless to say after they had a kid together (simultaneously while he got the girl he lived with pregnant as well). They hate each other now.
