I grew up loving these films. Now that damn pill makes me view them as the blue pill holy grail. Still, it hurts not enjoying them.
I get that being like George Bailey will rarely result in the altruistic return of love and care that the movie projects.. but I dont want to be old man potter either.
And I now understand the fallacy of Wesley trying to win buttercups heart by granting every one of her requests "As you wish".... but Prince Humperdinck didnt fair much better.
