If you've been here for over a year, there is no advice in this thread that you haven't already read many times over. You know what you need to do.

Here's a dumb "mental" trick that helps me take action on my to-do list: make a "promise" to yourself about something that needs to get done.

Pretend the promise you make is to someone really important in your life (like a child you do not want to disappoint). If you made a promise to, say, your girlfriend's little sister, you would be damned if you broke it, right? When I make a promise to myself, I pretend I made a promise to my son (8) or daughter (2). And I don't break promises made to my kids.

Yesterday I told myself (promised myself) I would lift at 5am before work. I overslept and missed my workout. It bugged me all day. I felt guilty. Afterall, I did just break a promise to someone I deeply care about (myself). As soon as I got home, instead of eating dinner and sitting on the couch with the family, I got changed and went straight to the gym to lift. I HAD to make it up to myself.

Now, what if you promised yourself you will go out alone one evening per week? That should be pretty easy to do. Way easier than running your own business, I know that much.

Just yesterday I made a promise to myself to put my phone away until the kids are in bed (I spend too much time on Reddit). I put the reminder on my phone. As I was eating dinner at 6:30pm, my phone alarm went off with a note that said "Put your phone away, faggot." The phone got put away and the alarm will stay on until this becomes a habit.

Change how you operate mentally and find a trick that works for you. Just stop being a lazy bitch.
