FR: cutting out alcohol

Reddit View
March 22, 2018

I quit alcohol 4 months ago and I feel I'm just now back to my old/best self. I was drinking heavily 3 nights a week and I'm sure it drained my body of valuable nutrients.

Since quitting I've been taking vitamins and supplements and hitting the gym 3 sometime 4 days a week. It's taken me this long to feel like I'm back.

The other thing I've changed is not consuming caffeine past 11am to ensure quality sleep and recovery.

Just a warning to those that drink, cut that shit out. It's draining.

I quit drinking when I divorced my fat, whore ex wife. A bunch of half marathons, 3 marathons, and a few sprint tri's since, and I havent looked back. Maybe a beer every once in awhile, thats about it.

Quit Smoking in January.

Cut weed from daily to a couple a shared spliffs at the weekend, every second weekend. But I’m suspecting it’s affecting my frame. Since January.

Quit boozing a decade ago. Bar a couple of drinks once a year.

Have cut way back and feel much better no doubt. Quit smoking too. Still dip like a fucking maniac. 12% bf easy w no beer + intermittent fasting, and regular lifting. I love beer but just not enough to look and feel like shit.

Still dip like a fucking maniac.

My vice too. Try camel snus. It’s not exactly the same but it’s all I do now and I’ve cut way back, use to be over a tin a day, bit “healthier” as well in a faggy kind of way.

10 years ago I was drinking daily, smoking 30 a day of tobacco and weed, was taking pills every weekend and had a rather expensive cocaine habit.

I quit the drugs six years ago and gave up boozing apart from weekends. Then I quit drinking altogether last year.

Finally quit smoking in January.

I might go back to taking drugs, smoking and getting drunk coz I was getting laid a lot more when I did those things.

I'm an alcoholic, when I got sober and hit the gym, 40 pounds fell off me. It's hard to get fat if booze is off the menu.

Well said, u/Iammrp2.

I don't have any scientific data to back this up, only a hunch, but I think alcohol makes you physically weaker. If I even have two beers the night before a workout my lifts suffer and I suffer.

Cutting back the booze from ?? drinks a week to two - four really improved my strength.

You can take red wine, tequila and vodka from my cold dead hand.

Like anything. Moderation is key.
