One thing to consider on the tailcoats of this :

If you are the type with a short commute or still bring work stress home, take a minute to decompress. Use your drive to chill the fuck out.

Also especially helpful when you have been reading shitty FR's with shitty wives. Take ten min and get into YOUR OWN mindset prior to coming in the door.

I used the audio version of laws of power to do that, totally reset me, even after an argument with the boss.

This is simple but golden. Post this to MRP not askMRP.

In the army we strived for military precision. That meant 5 minutes early.

Solid advice.

To be early is to be on time.

Truer words were never spoken. Especially if you are the boss; always be early, especially for critical events that require a good example being set. However, there are certain times where arriving a bit late shows dominance (depending on your place in the food chain or influence you have over others) and may be appropriate. That's for another post, though.

A little tangent: A few years ago I was deployed to Iraq and my unit had the mission of providing security and transportation for Distinguished Visitors (Diplomats, Generals, Senior Executive Service civilians, etc.). This meant that you were their protector, chauffeur, babysitter, and played lots of step-and-fetch-it. Sounds cool but was a real headache. This being the case, and we being in the Army, all transportation was planned, rehearsed, and executed down to the second. We would have teams recon routes and locales to plan the DV's itinerary down to the gnat's ass. The idea was to never be late OR early, and always within +/- 30 seconds. You can imagine that this is somewhat difficult in a warzone.

One time the Chairman of the JCS was on the ground. The worst ass-chewing I ever received in my military career was when one of my teams got him to a location 1 minute late because they (his particular armored car) were nearly struck by another vehicle en route and we diverted to an alternate route. His Personal Security Officer (PSO) was screaming at my team leader upon arrival once ADM Mullen went in the building, and I had a 2-star general do the same to me afterward for that and also because they didn't like the seating arrangement (which was planned with their advance team) on one of the birds subsequent to the near-accident. At the time it was pretty upsetting, but now I chuckle at the sheer absurdity of it all. To this day, I like to still practice arriving EXACTLY on time to certain things (when being early isn't critical) just for shits and giggles.

Happy Thanksgiving fuckers.

Thanks for sharing the story. Made me recall how my wife was always urging that we should be "leisurely." One of her very favorite words. I still get up at 5am even though there's no actual need, to me there is every need.

While punctuality is a virtue and may help with career advancement its no sexual strategy and this post is following the sad trend that gives MRP a bad rap.

You can't achieve your way to be sexually attractive as Alpha is a mindset not a yardstick of success

Agreed, it won't get you laid. But let's hope we move beyond getting laid as our core motivation, at some point.

Alright boss I'll be on time and toss out my phone
