There is no need for putting the Chad down by calling him an idiot and wishing his life to be ruined in order for the OP to feel better.

OP has to learn to deal with the reality that Chad will always (or at least in the foreseeable future) have an easier time with girls then him. If he can do that he'll have a much less stressful life; but if he has to imagine things going bad for people better than him in order to feel good about himself then he might have some bigger issues at hand.

I wholeheartedly agree that taking the higher road is the best thing to do, however, at the same time, it is idealistic, and in the shit hole that is reality, it doesn't always work.

From experience, I've met people who thrive on making the lives of others around them miserable, so they can feel superior. Essentially, they're validating their own life choices, ensuring they made the right decisions. It's also to have power over you.

Further, this is not limited to distant people, it can actually be the people closest to you that are more likely to cut you down to pull you back into the bucket.

Not always, but sometimes you have to be bad, and give into your baser instincts. We're all animals first, after all.

I realise a lot off people do put others down to feel better, but it doesn't make it any more the right way to deal with the situation - not only are you not gaining anything with that approach (except some "relief"), you are actually losing by not using that person as motivation to improve your own self.

I don't think putting others down is an instinct per se, I would describe it as a way of dealing with a situation in which someone is better than you at something. The other way of dealing with the situation is to respect the other person for being better and use this as fuel for self-improvement.

Hey man, as a 7/10 guy in my 20s I was working night shift at a gas station across from a strip club. The girls would often come in around 2am to buy some snacks before going home.
