The core tenet of TRP is that us humans have evolved in such a way that there is a constant competition between men and women in the sexual marketplace. Equally axiomatic is the tenant that, for a man, increasing SMV leads naturally to improved sexual success. RP followers understand that SMV has real components (fitness, financial success, health) and perceived components (social status, frame, presentation). This is somewhat arbitrary, as real components can be faked in the short term, but overall it is simple to see the distinction as long as you don't overthink it.

The first advice given out of the gate to a newbie like me is to start lifting and STFU. This allows one to start building their real SMV while preventing us from further destroying their percieved SMV by beta puking all over the place, getting pulled out of our fragile frames, etc.

I'm not going to touch on percieved SMV here, since I have nothing to say on the topic that more experienced, more eloquent guys have already said here. However, I had the thought today that the real component of SMV ought to be readily quantifiable or at least approximated by comparing it to demographic data. The results of checking it out were, like most of RP, a pretty harsh realization.

Of the real SMV components, the most readily calculated were percent body fat (%bf), strength (approximated by summing 1RM of deadlift, squat, and bench press), and income. I chose to do a simple average of the three categories, because I don't think one is particularly more important for women as a whole Obviously each woman will have her own weighting; some would prefer a pudgy billionaire to an Adonis surfer bum, and some would prefer the opposite.

I started with strength. Before this exercise I would've said I am above average strength, maybe a 6 or 7. Using the widely distributed strength standards and R software, I made a totally over fit but good-enough model that lets me calculate my percentile. Now, my projected 1RM based on my history and my 5x5 weights is in the ballpark of (B: 185, S:285, D:350) for a total BSD of 820. Not bad, right?

Fucking wrong. I can go more in depth into my method of calculation when a computer is handy but here's the deciles for BSD (Note that I didn't account for weight, because your wife will leave you for a 200lb man even if you only weigh 120):

Percentile Total BSD
5 417
10 486
20 604
30 698
40 772
50 837
60 904
70 988
80 1108
90 1285
95 1403

Yeah. I'm a fucking 4/10 in this category. Starting to think I don't like this game. Let's do %bf next, I'm rocking a ~20٪bf right now, if we assume lower is always better (outside of health issues or disorders that is a pretty fair assumption), let's do the same thing. Luckily this was easier to find so I'm not doing any modeling myself.

God damn it, I'm a 2/10. Fuck. At least in 3 years I will be 30 and then I'd be a 5/10.

Okay, last one is finances. I make 112K per year. I just used the first Google result here, it is messy on mobile so I'll summarize:

Percentile Income
5 $1968
10 $7000
20 $16024
30 $24001
40 $30138
50 $39048
60 $48335
70 $60020
80 $79050
90 $114068
95 $153420

I'm not at all confident with these numbers. I have a sneaking suspicion capital gains, etc. are not included, as I would have expected 95th percentile to be like 400K. If someone has a better set of criteria I will get that added in.

This has me at an 8/10, rounding down. Okay, neat.

So (4+2+8)/3 = 4.7. I'm a goddamned 4.7/10. No wonder no one is sucking my dick.

So remind yourselves, guys. It's cool to be in the 1K club, but that's only a 7/10. Sure, that's a 7/10 out of people who lift (probably much better in the general population) but it's what your wife sees.

I know exactly what my next steps are. Adding 50lbs to each lift and dropping to 15%bf would move me from a 4.7 to a 6.7, assuming I make enough strides with frame, fashion, and social life to back it up. I have some work to do.
