The first generations of women who decided to push out the age of marriage for the most part found that the same number of men still prepared to be husbands. But over time as the length of the delay increased, this weakened the signal women collectively sent to young men that respectable men will be sexually successful.

Today an 18 year old man sees that for the next decade or so his most effective sexual strategy is to focus on being the sexy badboy young women dedicate their sexual prime to, not patiently preparing to be the boring loyal dude who will pick up the tab*

This lower quote really hit home

[–]Modredpillschool[S] 111 points112 points  (50 children) | Copy

What's funny is, it's not a terrible strategy for men anyway.

Don't settle down in your twenties. Be the bad boy. Establish yourself as you approach your thirties, and then finally have the resources to start a family with an early twenty-something who is looking for an older man.

22 year old guys didn't stand a chance anyway.

[–]Endorsed Contributoritiswr1tten95 points96 points  (34 children) | Copy

22 year old me would stand absolutely no chance against 28 year old me. The difference was so extreme I can't really put a scale to it.

And I did WELL for 22.

No reason to handcuff yourself when your market value is skyrocketing.

50 year old me absolutely slaughters 25 year old me. I’m now dating multiple women in their 20s, am financially rock solid and an traveling the world.

[–]baeslick7 points8 points  (26 children) | Copy

That’s what our SMV is, and I’ve been told that your 20s are investment time and I’ve found that to be true. Do you think you have a better social/sex life in your late 20s or is it just a matter of quantity rather than quality? Is it both?

[–]Endorsed Contributoritiswr1tten33 points34 points  (16 children) | Copy

Dual factors. You got money, a real career. Solid foundation. Second, your confidence is natural. You give zero fucks.

I walk up to girls in the grocery store and say shit like "I like the way you look. Give me your number to see if we can turn this physical attraction into an emotional one."

The number of guys out there doing that earnestly is incredibly low. At 22 I would have to pysch myself up to do that. Now I just do it. I literally follow it up with "I'm a big boy, I can take a no" because it's sincere. They rarely say no.

[–]Pintsmithy16 points17 points  (1 child) | Copy

I pick up tons at the liquor store. When i see a girl with boxed wine I ask what's shes up to. It's almost always "just gonna go home and chill". I ask if they want to come drink it at my house. I still have plates today from that line.

I turned 27 this year, and this definitely is good to hear. I still feel a bit of imposter syndrome sometimes. But I've learned invaluable lessons in my twenties to this point...almost all of them the hard way. I don't intend to forget them. I WILL succeed.

[–]Pentecost_Respecter42 points43 points  (13 children) | Copy

Be a fit 35 year old man with some savings, own your own house... and go out and find a 21-year-old solid 7 who isn't a crazy partier and who holds down a full time job. Set down ground rules. Never let her have any power over you.

If you are too close in age, she is out of your league, she comes from too much money... she will always challenge you and you will both be miserable/rollercoaster relationship.

[–]Anasthaesium58 points59 points  (2 children) | Copy

Tried this. Doesn't work as smoothly in practice. Most early 20 some things still haven't had the party phase out of their system. Peer pressure etc. You cant take a 20 early something beauty and all of a sudden make her into a traditional submissive woman. It will take a lot of training aka drama till she submits and is ready for family by the time she is 25.

[–]Greek-God-Brody25 points26 points  (0 children) | Copy

The peer pressure is big., especially from her close female friends.
Currently seeing a 22 year old hottie, delicate, feminine, great relationship with her father. Doesn't show her cleavage in social media pics. I can easily tell she is a good LTR prospect.

Her friends though, do have an influence.

[–]TheImpossible122 points23 points  (2 children) | Copy

Why do that? Why not just enjoy your life and keep to short-term flings.

[–]Flintblood20 points21 points  (1 child) | Copy

I don’t get why this was downvoted. Sure, I would enjoy a magical unicorn situation with a life mate. But I always see it ending at some point. Forever isn’t real anymore. I have 2.5 plates now (the half is very occasional) and prospects for more if I had the time, energy and juggling talent. It’s not shallow. We have meaningful talks and enjoy time together - but there are no contracts. Ironically, I’ve almost been on and off with plate 1 for 9.5 months now and she is showing no signs of ghosting and neither am I. Besides a few serious LTRs that’s the longest I dated anyone in my past life of pedestals and romantic expectations.

[–]baeslick7 points8 points  (0 children) | Copy

I would guess the only reason for settling down is to raise a family, but most people see that as a risky move. I still want a family personally but I don’t see how following the crowd on this one is going to make anyone or anything better.

I understand and fully accept the reality, when all is said and done. I guess it will take a giant wave of single and barren women in their 50s to change this all around

[–]Greek-God-Brody3 points4 points  (1 child) | Copy

Getting a 21 year old as a 35 year old. Wouldn't that be more difficult, cause of the 10+ age difference? Even if you're high-value and in top shape.
I'm 28 and seeing a girl who's 22, she might be a solid LTR investment for the future

[–]Pentecost_Respecter8 points9 points  (0 children) | Copy

Depends on how good of shape you're in, how good your genetics are. But also, it depends on your personality, your aggressiveness, your ability to control the woman. Many men worry about their woman cheating, for example, with a younger man. But they can also cheat with an older man. Or even another woman, even an older, fatter, uglier woman (it happens!). In the end, if they are going to cheat... they are going to cheat. I think your job is to establish consequences for cheating, make this game have stakes... after all, it is a game. Everything is. If she knows she will lose everything for infidelity, and become a laughing stock in front of all your friends and family, and yet you will retain those relationships that she strains... what will she do?

I guess what I am trying to say is there is an underappreciation for the power of character present in thinking that a woman cannot be faithful to an older man if younger cocks are present. Perhaps this fear in itself signals an underlying absence of confidence.

Think... if she cheats... you just get to trade in for a newer model. She gets sent to the used car lot for a dealer trade.

Being a high value man has immense privilege when it comes to sex and love, but only if you leverage it correctly.

[–]Minopo1 point2 points  (1 child) | Copy

If they dont have their party phase at their early 20s, they will have it later. There is nothing wrong in going to parties, getting some ons or do another stupid things.

The problem is always understand what is real and what is a fantasy, and most girls dont understand it and continue the cock carousel and when they hit the 30's its to late for them.

The ones that experienced life and understand the difference between parties and the struggles of the real world for me are the best to have in a LTR.

[–]Pentecost_Respecter1 point2 points  (0 children) | Copy

Depends on what you're after. Some people drive old Toyotas and Nissans, some guys like the reliability and safety of a big Dodge, some prefer to drive a late model domestic.

They also don't make them like they used to. If you want a young one, 19-23, you will probably have to teach them things their parents never taught them. Like how to take care of house work, how to eat properly, etc. Girls don't age well drinking soda and eating Taco Bell and Subway for every meal. In my experience, a drinker ages way faster than a non-drinker, and I would take a girl who smokes a pack a week over a girl who has wine with dinner every night.

If I had it to do over, I would have still gone for the young, fuckable but innocent type... it would have been less stressful if I'd had more savings and more experience.

Everyone has their own needs for women, though. Just depends on your lifestyle.

[–]DeChef2-1 points0 points  (2 children) | Copy

If you are too close in age, she is out of your league, she comes from too much money... she will always challenge you and you will both be miserable/rollercoaster relationship.

Out of your league? And, “she will challenge you and,” OH NO 😱! MY RELATIONSHIP IS RUINED!

What is this? Cuz it sure ain’t what TRP says on these subjects. Leagues don’t exist, get that out of your head. “Don’t ever tell a women why she shouldn’t bang you,” that’s from the sidebar.

And so what if she challenges you? That’s cute. Because it’s so ineffectual that it’s funny, cute that she would even think it would work. If your relationships go to the dumps every time she challenges you...

What are you, some 11 yo kid with barely an ounce of muscle on him? Grow a pair and get used to conflict.

[–]Pentecost_Respecter4 points5 points  (1 child) | Copy

What are you going to do if she challenges you, text her the navy seal copypasta?

In real life, women can do a lot of damage to your finances, your sanity, your children (if you choose to have any). If you just want to fuck sluts, ignore long term relationship advice. Don't shit on it, it's just not for you right now. But if you do choose to settle down and/or get married, that there is solid advice. Get them after they have hit 21, to see if they can handle adulthood and if they have demonstrated responsibility... but before they trash their bodies and let themselves go/hit the wall.

then finally have the resources to start a family with an early twenty-something who is looking for an older man

Let's take a hard look in the mirror and admit that this is our version of the super rich dude waiting for us when we're used up. Get real. What percentage of early 20s women are looking for an "older" man to pump out kids for asap? Keep in mind "older" means in his thirties since most men don't make good money in their 20s, especially not men who are playing "bad boy" to get laid.

[–]rogerthat1989113 points114 points  (38 children) | Copy

It seems the incentives for men to get married have increasing decreased over time. Women don’t bring much to the table anymore besides sex and men can get sex without marriage.

Why marry a woman who spent her prime sleeping around and now expects you to put a ring on it? I’m not interested in that and I’m not surprised other men aren’t either.

deleted What is this?

[–]SalporinRP22 points23 points  (1 child) | Copy

It used to be that women’s best option for success was to put their faith in the right man. They’d marry young, and together the couple would work towards success. The man’s vision - whatever it be - became just as much her’s as his. Marriage really was about “sharing their lives,” at least it was supposed to be.

Bill Burr put it best. Women now just want to stand at the finish line and get with the winner.

You can argue that women putting their faith in a man early was a result of societal norms/pressure but still. I know many older women (65+) that took pride in the fact that they married young and supported their husbands through thick and thin and built a lasting family.

My grandparents had 9 kids which resulted in 24 grandkids. I can't imagine what it was like for them to look over the massive crowd at family gatherings and know that they worked so hard to build that family unit.

It's a bit depressing because I'd really like a family one day (maybe not that big lol) but I think those days are just gone.

The important lesson to take away here is that people do what they are incentivized to do.

Women were incentivized (by feminism and the loosening of sexual mores) to indulge their animal instincts, rather than to develop strategies for securing happiness and companionship later in life.

The older generations of women were disincentivized from advising women about the truth of sexual dynamics. Self-indulgence and a general lack of wisdom about the consequences of sleeping around became the norm.

Men were incentivized to shift the focus of their efforts towards actively thwarting the agendas of women, for the sake of fulfilling their own agendas.

If you wish to understand the internal social dynamic of any group - whether that's a local bowling team, a corporate office, or an entire nation - you must examine the incentives and constraints that affect the decisions of those people in that group at that scale. Then, you can predict the moves that people will make.

[–]Endorsed ContributorKeffirLime8 points9 points  (0 children) | Copy

Makes perfest sense.a while back, I had to shut down another man's wife.

Needy, clingy, controlling, demanding. Mentioned frequently how I was the "only one in our little town that hasn't seen her ass." Our largest, only real convo was about a book. In messages.

Husband of 14 years refers to her as "The Boss."

Oldest of her group of friends. Lives vicariously through the younger girls. Social status and kayfabe/larger scale plausible deniability allows the junior varsity squad to convince themselves they get away with murder, since momma hen isn't held to any standards. "No one knows any better."

The unironic thing about it all is, we're all in recovery.

If you thought this shit was a game with "normal" women, have some experience with the hamster on a woman in recovery.

[–]_do_not_read_this_ 1 points [recovered]  (2 children) | Copy

I've been reading a lot of older English literature lately - 1800s and early 1900s up to WWII - and it's curious to see that back then people "fell in love" and got married in about a week, maybe a couple of weeks. And then for the most part committed to it (I know they're just stories ...)

A lot of them were also "arranged" in that the male's *or* female's social status was a definite factor. "Does he have a title" sort of thing.

I'm not sure things have changed much in terms of female expectations - a nobility title versus income and job status. It almost sounds like after 500 years, men are finally wising up to the game.

[–]PS2Errol10 points11 points  (0 children) | Copy

Fathers provided their daughters with large dowrys. No potential husband would be interested in even a pretty girl unless there was a lot of money added to the bargain (they are just an expensive and annnoying bauble, otherwise).

Yup women have little to no concept on reality or economics, more news at 8. Women actually START caring about money when they start approaching the wall and until then it’s just a number. Most of the time their narrow world view in college and high school is based on the scope of their Instagram accounts. They have to learn to adapt once their SMV shows signs of tanking.

The lesson for young men is never commit, be the bad boy they cheat on their boyfriends with. Stack cash and date young. Life goes by too fast.

[–]bushwicksick39 points40 points  (7 children) | Copy

Feminism destroyed the institution of marriage. That study confirms what many of us, who are aware of TRP already know... Females are obsessed with hypergamy. There is thankfully a solution, we must all stand up to it. Build ourselves as men, strengthen our physical bodies, enrich our minds, maintain traditional standards of manhood etc. Do not marry/reward any female who displays this sort of conduct. Look for truly, exceptional and well raised feminine women to be with. Our society is screwed but we should all make the most of it.

[–]JohnnySixguns29 points30 points  (0 children) | Copy

This is the correct approach.

Reward exceptional femininity.

[–]TricksterOfFate3 points4 points  (0 children) | Copy

The solution is sex robots, once women will lost their sexual power they will have to up their game or become obsolete. When there is robots that offer better sexual experiance than women, men will not tolerate an inch of bullshit from women. Most men do not care about women personality, because most women are boring. They just want good looking women that are not a massive pain in the ass. Men play the game today because women are the ultimate heterosexual option, but once that not the case anymore... That not going to be a fun future for women.

[–]TRP VanguardHumanSockPuppet10 points11 points  (2 children) | Copy

Feminism did not destroy marriage.

The inevitable advancement of technology is what destroyed marriage.

Marriage was killed in ancient societies as well not by tech advancements but by men turning into simps allowing women to earn their own money, vote and (surprise, surprise) unleash hypergamy onto the SMP. Read Glubb and Unwin. There was no welfare, great economic surplus or washing mashines back then. It has already happened before. It's the whore instinct from the stone age that men haven't exterminated yet. For extra reading: Malleus Maleficarum, witches = whores.

Also, interestingly, in this article Feminism has been revealed to be a pipe-dream compliance test to myopically and tertiarily weed out the weak and propagate/isolate/guarantee dominant and desirable males through suborning and quelling "lesser" men.

Feminism is an attempt at pre-empting the established structures that create men of high value, and substituting them with post-modernist Feminist structures.

It's also a shallow attempt at establishing female superiority and supremacy in response to perceived male superiority and in lieu of equality but still under the guise of "equality."

Feminism is ostensibly a response to "male superiority" that disenfranchised and suborned women.

The only reasonable response to "male superiority" (i.e. muh patriarchy) if someone was truly opposed to that on ideological grounds is total equality, not a matriarchy in lieu of a patriarchy.

If you point to women ostensibly being "second-class citizens" and your only solution is to make men "second-class citizens" instead of making everyone and everything equal (as far as opportunity goes), congrats, you're a hypocrite who's only perpetuating the problem in bad faith.

Feminism is more correctly “masculinism”; it is an ideology that embitters women against men because women are not men and seeks to make women as close to men in form and function as possible. Instead of actual equality, it is just an attempt at securing total female superiority as a response to what SJWs perceive as total male superiority under the guise of "equality" .

I always had a feeling that your average western male today is more red pilled than we give them credit for.

Sure, your average male has nothing on your average male on this sub, but a fair few/many are aware of :

Alpha fucks, beta bucks, in their own language of course (chasing bad boys in twenties, why pay for something that was given for free etc)

(At least subconsciously).

Your average male knows that he doesn’t have to settle for being the beta bucks, he can either be an alpha or die trying.

[–]GoTransOrRope4 points5 points  (0 children) | Copy

This article is way too biased and tries to paint unmarried men as eschewing marriage in favor of sexual success, sprinkled with a little MGTOW.

What percentage of unmarried men are incels that women want nothing to do with? What percentage are "woke male feminists" who are respectful to women and are waiting their turn to betabux? What percentage are too afraid to interact with women and cope alone in their apartments? What percentage feel their penis is too small to make themselves vulnerable to rejection for even trying at a relationship?

The reality is that Western culture has expressed enormous hostility to the average male for at least the last 20 years, and the effects of that hostility shape the minds of young boys exposed to it, not surprisingly in negative ways.
