A lot of MGTOWS are indeed men who have failed with women, or have been heartbroken through cheating etc.

They could have also had bickering parents that influenced their decisions on marriage.

Some were divorced and indeed were wrongfully treated in the divorce courts.

Ultimately, a true MGTOW who instead focuses on his life will no longer worry about women or the dating scene, and probably wouldnt join some subreddit for emotional support.

I just met my first MGTOW in person, though he has no idea of the greater movement. He’s not online. He’s his own man.

I have to admit, it surprised me.

His problems are that he’s a little short, and not very smart. About 5’8”, joined the military during Vietnam and wasn’t even sent over, they kept him state-side working in the back of the kitchen his entire time in. That’s what they do with guys who score low coming in. You can tell sometimes when he’ll be perplexed in contexts he shouldn’t be.

But his upsides are in far greater number. He’s strong, good should-waist thing, he likes to talk and listen, you wouldn’t know he was of lower IQ unless certain situation, he doesn’t come across as dull or anything. He’s handsome enough. Great with his hands, just added a beautiful sunroom into his self-designed home on a spacious and immaculately kept estate. All his shit is clean and organized, his bed is made. Pretty much all his shit is on point. Yet he tells me he’s just not interested. He’s about 50 and in good health.

I probed him a little, and I’m convinced he’s quite content having his home and his friends and the different outdoor activities they do, and family. Doesn’t even have a dog. Doesn’t seem low test but who knows.

It was odd to not see a drive to fuck. I know it can be hidden or suppressed by some dudes, but I’ve never just not seen one at all. Every dude I know fucks or wants to.

I don’t have a point just sharing :) Guess I understand that crowd a little better. But not the whingeing. This dude isn’t bitter and never complained, he had just accepted his slice of reality.

I'm not MGTOW but I was aware of them for quite a long time - since the early 2000's at least and tried to understand them a bit. At least back in the 2000's they were very justifiably bitter men trying to re-orient the world. MGTOW likely saved a lot of male lives, maybe not in a necissarily healthy way - but likely in the only way those lives could be saved.

Men internalize their problems - they blame themselves even if it's apparent at times that it isn't their fault. If you go back to early internet History and dig up some old MGTOW forum posts the barbary and vindictiveness of some of the men there are only eclipsed by what lead them to that dark place.

I'd say the main difference between MGTOW and "I don't need no man" from the feminist perspective is that MGTOW - at least in its inception was a mental autoimmune response to being betrayed where as "I don't need no man" historically has been a re-packaged mantra to go along with the inventing of the boogyman by feminism (men).

They are similar on the surface but very different underneath. "I don't need no man" was generally a choice rebelling against a "new enemy" (the Patriarchy).

MGTOW - no where near that nice. It was a reaction to, not a choice - at least initially (or rather a choice between blowing your brains out or just refocusing on yourself).

Men have no where near the kind of support system women do for mental health, further there is a very real ever-present and decades if not centuries old cultural expectation of men to "stoicism".

I don't usually care when people trash on MGTOW I'm not one of them and I'm not fully equipped to plead their case because I don't 100% buy into it.

What I am however is a front row witness to their birth, at least on the Internet (and I'm pretty sure that's their initial birth to begin with) and it's not the same.

Probably but I dont see anything wrong with either. I mean look at reddit childfree (which i also have no issues with). All of these are accused for talking too much about something they dont want.

Which is fine if what you don't want is something like, play golf, or get a tattoo... who cares. But really even in developed countries going off the script is considered weird and usually takes more thought process to choose than the route of marrying, reproducing etc. (Which should require a lot of thought)

I also think it could be freeing to know you dont have to do these things and it can suddenly look weird how everyone else is choosing the shittier lifestyle. It can be nice to talk about it to likeminded people.

That's at least how i see it, i am not defending any indiviudal opinions. But I respect mgtow (and wgtow) while red pill is just lame

Honestly? Some years ago it was good. But now, yeah, I guess the Incels migrated into it. It used to be helpful in terms of helping people realise to focus on themselves more, and that their happiness is not tied to how well you do with someone of the opposite sex.

However... I would argue that the reason MGTOW went bad is that they adopted the doctrine of AWALT from TheRedPill. This is one of the reasons why both TheRedPill and MGTOW fail. The first one to drop it "wins" or whatever you want to call it.

TRP only works if your goal is to hookup with immature College chicks (Which shouldnt be that hard TBH, but if you need advice for it, fair enough, use TheRedPill). It is HORRIBLE advice for long term relationships, as it preaches The Dread Game which any mature adult knows is a bad idea.

TL;DR Drop AWALT and you should be allright

MGTOW is a given choice by men to go in an unconventional direction of their own choosing. True, on its surface, the MGTOW sub, largely shows memes, humorous examples, obvious examples of why a relationship really isn't all that rewarding, and yet, below the surface there are some pretty serious guys posting some serious stuff. Ultimately, though, MGTOW is not a philosophy. It's not a group. The decision to go in this direction is a decision of one. Each guy who goes in this direction has to experience a completely autonomous journey.. It is an experiment of one.

Any number of reasons could be used to go in a direction of not having a serious relationship. One of the more serious reasons for me is that the juice just isn't worth the squeeze anymore. Fuck the "giving up" BS the opposers would like to argue. Relationships are just a big pain in the ass. When I went, I was just bored, tired, and fed up with the effort I had to put into that shit. I realized that not only did I not want to put in the effort, I also didn't want to spend time or do the shit that women tend to want guys to put up with. One day, I was just done.

I recall that day as my first step to Freedom Town. Now, I do what the fuck I want, when I want, and how I want. The journey is mine alone. No compromise, no settling, no nagging, no expectations from "her" or her god damned family which is nothing more than you attempting to "shoe-horn" yourself into some other fucking family who you probably despise, and most definitely don't want to spend time with anyway.

In short, just sick and tired of all the drama and all the baggage. And here's what I've experienced. Every single year has gotten better, more enjoyable, and more free. No more. I'm out. Access Denied.

MGTOW is a faulty ideology because it's 1000% contradictory by its very nature.

The entire idea of Men Going Their Own Way is that men have decided that entanglements with women are not worth the cost, and they are instead applying their time and resources in other directions.

So it is a movement about men forsaking women...but the defining characteristic of it - the one main requirement for belonging to it - is your stance on women.

How you feel about women and what you think about women is the very core of this movement that is supposedly about men going their own way and not about women.

If you want some kind of generic pro-masculinity forum about manly men doing manly man things and discussing masculine hobbies and masculine activities in a male space, you don't want MGTOW. Join a male hobbyist group or something.

MGTOW is a bunch of whiny womanly losers who can't get laid, and the one unifying thread that ties them all together is their obsession with women - an obsession so great that their fun internet hobby is to type about women all day long and how terrible women are.

For a movement that is all about how men don't need women, they are -obsessed- about women and completely 100% -defined- by their stance on women.

The 'I dont need no man' (IDNNM) thing is just what it says, a call to say women don't need what men have to offer. However MGTOW consider that women have things which are valuable. sex. relationships. partnership. they just don't think it is worth the effort. Also the (IDNNM) has at its goal is to not NEED men, while MGTOW is to not have contact with women, be it in romance, personally or even with society in general.

Sure as you say, many men who never stood the chance just go their own way, however it is their own choice. debatably to some it is their only choice (Like that mod which is stuck in a wheelchair).

All in all MGTOW and IDNNM are 2 ideas which reflect well men and women relationships. women want more resources while men just dont want to lose theirs. heh I had a nice laugh

I'd bet lots of MGTOW would enjoy a healthy, productive, balanced, fulfilling relationship and family with a woman but aren't able to because they're terrible (but aren't self aware) or the women they've come across are terrible and so they're sick of it. The difference is, when women say "i don't need a man" but they still do, they say it when it's convenient for them and when they need shit done, they ask men to do it. MGTOW on the other hand doesn't say that they don't need a woman, they tried having relationships or whatever and didn't like what they were getting out of it compared to how much they were investing in it. I personally am not a MGTOW, not yet atleast but i respect their personal choice and honestly speaking, some of them do look and sound satisfied with their choice.
