Does or has anybody anywhere ever argued that contraception isn't also the woman's responsibility?

When I took sex ed in high school over 20 years ago, the dogma used to be that we had to teach guys that condoms were their responsibility and that they couldn't just expect girls to be on the pill. At the same time, girls were also taught to have their own condoms and to make guys use them.

This CMV is literally what everybody everywhere has been saying for decades.

Times haven't changed with the modern casual sex culture. In fact, people are even more careful about safe sex than they were 20 years ago. The only people who fuck raw and cum inside are sloppy kids in college who are just starting the casual sex thing and haven't figured out the standard practices yet.

I carry condoms with me when I go to parties and I always have some in my room and I learned how to put them on guys for them so they don’t fuck it up. I agree with this premise 100%. I have had a few women turn down vaginal sex because no condom (just didn't have one at the time or easy access to one). I have no problem with this.

I have a dead fallopian tube so ive been on the pill since I was like 14 to keep it from going septic. An ex of mine, of like four weeks, slipped off a condom and thought I wouldn't notice. He complained that he liked it raw and didn't understand why I would take the extra precaution step.

I also live in a fairly liberal state. Mothers who don't want to pay for child support have been known to flee the state in order to take the father to court for child support in a different state just for,the guarentee they will win. The simple solution that my state has come up with "who has the most custody? The one who does will be paid child support. 50/50 child support? Alternative payments." If the parent who is receiving child support starts dating someone seriously, the other person can choose to change theor payments.

The reason people here will suggest educating men more is... 1. All the complaints about child support. 2. Vast majority of oops pregnancy results from sex without contraception.

Because of biological asymmetry, if there's an accident a woman can protect her own interests by having an abortion. A man cannot.

It is in a man's best interests to wear that condom, because once conception happens, the outcome is out of his hands.

I can think of at least two common scenarios in which it fails.

Most places in the world still slut shame women, so they don’t keep condoms handy. Only extremely assertive women go against the flow, and tbh I can’t recall any, ever. Yeah, too much passivity.

Women prefer aggressive men for hookups, so it can be scary to insist once they’re almost doing it. Catch 22.

Society has this weird allergy to the concept of female responsibility, despite the fact that it is implied by female agency.

Tell women to be safe, not get drunk around strangers or go to strange men's apartments = slut shaming, victim blaming. Tell women to not have sex if they don't want to have babies and that abortion is wrong = YoURe TrYiNg tO coNtrOl womEn'S BodiEs, we're a hair away from society going full handmaidens tale omg.

But of course, if men dont want to pay child support they should keep it in their pants.

Women want the freedom to do as they please, without needing to actually look at their behavior to ensure it makes sense. They'd rather blame some collective male patriarchal boogeyman whenever things go wrong.

Women shouldnt be fucking at all if they dont want consequences. Somehow this idea has seeped into society's psyche that its ok for women to do whatever the fuck they want, including murder infants, and that we all need to stand by twiddling our thumbs as the genocide unfurls. Fuck that. Enough with the double standards. If women are big girls and can handle rights then they can handle responsibilities and consequences too. No skating away or smothering your young because it turns out you cant handle it.

it is my opinion that since women get pregnant the onus of out of wedlock pregnancy is 100% on them. i dont mean legally or culturally as it stands right now, i understand thats not how its conceived of now, its how any "System" or culture influenced by my beleifs would be. also for STIs, its ludicrous to put the onus of your own protection on others

I know in TRP land, the man is devioid of responsibility and its all the womans fault.

And I know in Feminism land, everything is mans fault.

In my eyes, it takes 2 to tango. If you are willing to have unprotected sex, be aware of the consequences. Blaming the other gender will not solve anything, it won't unpregnate you and it won't get rid of those warts.

If you're going to have sex, you should use a condom unless it's strictly oral. Pull out method? Your precum still has sperm cells in it. That can still get a person pregnant if they're not wearing one.

Women have over a dozen, simple and effective methods for birth control. I totally get that if you're having casual sex you should probably be wearing a condom. But Jesus Christ. That's all we have and it sucks. They can take this fucking little pill once a day. The level of retarded a woman has to be to not be responsible enough to do this is absolutely reprehensible. I had this experience with two separate hookups last summer. Both preferred that I didn't use a condom once it came out that I had a vasectomy. I wish I could say I was surprised but a few years ago I was privy to a gaggle of twenty-something women discussing such things and they all just used the pullout method.
