Most politics is professional wrestling for people who think they are too smart for professional wrestling. The Russia stories are there to distract you from actual politics. Trump could end all of it tomorrow if he wanted to with no punishment, but he loves the attention being there. It distracts the people from what he is actually doing and makes his base more energized because they feel like "their guy" is being unjustly attacked. I hate Trump, but he is amazing at what he does. He is the embodiment of Do Not Give A Fuck.

I'm inclined to believe that Putin has some kind of dirt on Trump. Exactly what kind, I'm not sure.

I want to ask why in this sub.. I find it annoying when non-political subs bring politics in to it. Though it is interesting how the comments of this sub seem to be split about 50/50 with pro-trump and anti-trump with a mix of moderates from the replies so far. Seems kinda fair and no circle jerking or shilling going on in here.

But the mod who posted this seems biased against Trump with the way the questions are worded.

If you want my opinion with what happened. I think Trump is trying to be friendly with Russia, a long the same lines as we were with the EU. Everyone else is treating him like shit for no good reasons, so of course he'll lean towards countries who don't treat him like shit.

As for if it's a good thing, it's probably a great thing. The EU has been acting like a spoiled brat the past 70 years and have seemingly accomplished little to nothing, while USA seems to have been competing against China, and Russia for the world stage. I'm not sure if Russia is as good now days as they were during the cold war. But USA still seems to cooperate with them with outer space matters like with the space station. I'd like to think if two major powers interested in advancement actually cooperate great things will happen.

Also, if Putin tries to walk all over Trump, he'll probably shut that down fast. That's what he's doing with everyone else, why do people think it'll be different for Russia. Any blackmail he could potentially come up with the democrats have already made up and released while everyone who hates Trump believes it, and everyone who has a brain doesn't believe it.

Communication between nations armed to the teeth with hydrogen bombs is a good thing. Especially when the relationship has otherwise been rather tense. I don't know when it was that US Democrats became such an absurd warmongering bunch.

Also the whole Russia thing is a distracting sideshow. Obviously, going forward Russia is not the great adversary to the West. The rising powers in East and South Asia are.

The idea the United States is “owned” by Russia is asinine. That being said, the evidence does show Russia tried to influence the election. The US does the same thing to other countries. China does the same thing to other countries. Everyone is trying to influence everyone else to their benefit. That’s the game. Russian interference is not why Hillary Clinton lost the election. Hillary lost because of Hillary.

Trump says a lot of stupid shit, but his policies have been pretty solid (tariffs aside).

the russians had minimal influence on the election. everyone on the world stage is constantly trying to hack each other and influence elections and politics in other countries. that's just the nature of international geopolitics in (current year). the US definitely fucks around in everyone else's business and stirring up shit. and the Chinese do way more hacking than the Russians. remember when the Chinese hacked the OPM and stole the SF-86 records (security clearance applications) of 20 million people? that was a SERIOUS security breach, but we didn't see crowds of people protesting and basically demanding the US go to war over it like we are seeing with this russia bs.

the liberals are just buttmad about losing and still in denial and looking for any excuse to remove Trump and "put things right" (as they see it).

that said, if putin did manage to "hack the election" and change the outcome, then he deserves a fucking medal for keeping hillary out of office.
