It's not exactly a secret that women prefer men at the top of the male dominance hierarchy (or at the top of society, to put it another way).

Men have undoubtedly noticed that women have a strong preference to choose men at the top of society. Conversely, women have undoubtedly noticed that men have a very weak preference toward women at the top of society. If a woman is sexually attractive, it (generally) doesn't matter where she falls in the socio-economic ladder. Thus, it is much more important for a man to improve his position on the socio-economic ladder than it is for a women to improve her position on the socio-economic ladder.

Feminists usually refer to "the patriarchy" as a societal structure which systemically oppresses women, leaving men in positions of power. I believe that couldn't be further from the truth. My view is that women's preference for high status men is almost entirely to blame for the fact that men occupy such a high percentage of positions of power. In other words, women's preference for these men plays a huge role in why men strive to occupy these positions.

Let's imagine a scenario where women decide that the socio-economic status of a man has no correlation with women choosing that man as a mate. For example, the garbage man is equally as likely to find a mate as a CEO/athlete/movie star. My opinion is that the patriarchy would dissolve instantly in that circumstance.

Therefore, it is my view that "the patriarchy" is merely another term for sexual selection, and is created entirely by women's preference for high status men.

Change my view.
