Women have an unspoken "if she's waiting you out, you have to leave the bathroom and let her poop" rule. It only gets dicey when two women try to wait out each other.

You guys know we wear makeup and fix our hair. It's not a mystery.

The stall, if needed. But there's really not much to tits that require us to get undressed in order to "fix." Really just sticking your hand in there and giving them a little boost.

This is my concern - where we are going to shit talk people? If my friend is bitching about her frenemy at the bar, we used to know to shut up if the frenemy was in the bathroom.

Now, what if one of those guys is frenemy's date?

The other downside is how often men are going to hear other women asking each other for tampons. No way to do that subtly, but you can't exactly put it off when you need to ask the question.

Gotta say, I'm not really concerned with preserving the "romance" with some random dude who might overhear me in a public restroom.

The only person I'd care about hearing me would be my SO, but as far as that goes, it's not like romantic partners who live together don't hear each other shit and fart sometimes. Whatever, it's a part of life, especially for me (IBS.) I got over that a long time ago.

I don't think I've ever needed to "fix my tits"(?) in public, but if I did why couldn't I do it in the stall? I wouldn't want a woman seeing me do it either.

As far as fixing your makeup etc., I don't see why that would be weird with men around. The only reason I don't really like to do it in public bathrooms is because I feel like I'm in the way of people who need to wash their hands. But that's gender neutral.

Overall I'm not too bothered by the concept but I also don't think it's really necessary. I'm curious, were there very many men in the "stall" restroom? What kind of establishment was this?

I have no interest in preserving the feminine romantic mystique for some random dude in a public bathroom. And why would I need to take my tits out at all? That is not normal in a woman's washroom. I don't care if a guy sees me apply lipstick.

The only drawback I noticed in gender neutral bathrooms is that drunk men are sloppy pissers, and the floor can get pretty gross. Talk about destroying the romance.

I do my makeup in unisex bathrooms. And me and my girlfriends womanspread and do our usual level setting in unisex bathrooms no matter if men are around. It's about us not them lol.

Honestly men lose out imo. Women will take up the most time relieving themselves, primping/adjusting, and also lingering around talking in their respective friend groups.

Men will suffer the dreaded long line to the restroom.

Here's why women lose out. Guys are fucking pigs when it comes to public bathrooms. We had a bar in college that did $2 pitchers/$1.50 burger and fry baskets and the guys' bathroom was an absolute war zone. I mean liquid shit overflowing out of the toilet onto the floor and stuff. We didn't even have paper towels. I was trying to air dry my hands as I walked out and a girl grabbed me by the hand and took me into their bathroom. They had a little bench, a potted plant, and everything was squeaky clean. That's why they lose.

Every gender neutral bathroom I've been in has had private rooms instead of stalls, which I don't mind. But yeah, I hate the idea of gender neutral bathrooms with normal stalls. Yuck. But "fixing my tits" and gossiping about men are the least of my worries.

Yes, I've used gender neutral bathrooms. So yeah, everyone farts and shits. Gender neutral bathrooms now recreate what gay and bi people have always had to "deal" with, that is hearing shit come out the ass of someone you might theoretically be sexually attracted to. It's not a big deal. Who the hell is picking people up in the bathroom anyways? Why does it matter the genitals if the person you overhear shitting? Maybe this is just me, but when I hear someone shitting in the bathroom I make a point to avoid eye contact and either finish first while they're still going or wait to leave until I can tell they're done. This is to be polite for their sake in case they're easily embarrassed, I don't care at all. As far as "freshening up" goes, unless we're talking about a locker room, no one "fixes their tits" in front of strangers, at least not in my experience. You do that in the stall, or when you're the only one around. Maybe in nightclubs but there are way, way more public bathrooms being used in other type of places where tit adjusting wouldn't be socially acceptable, even in a women's only restroom. Women don't gossip in bathrooms either, at least at places you don't see a lot of teenagers. The last time I legit gossiped in a bathroom was when I was 15, coming up on 20 years ago, and yet I'm in public gendered bathrooms all the time and never see it.

I think that the kind of woman who want to use the john as a powder room/makeup area/gossip forum are probably going to be using the female-only bathrooms. Gender neutral bathrooms are good for those of us with vaginas who don't care about any of that, and don't want to fight our way past a group of women taking over the sinks with cosmetics or standing in groups mucking up the path to the stalls.
