I'm a newly appointed trump supporter, after watching him stick it to Hillary during the debate.

This is your problem. You are voting with your emotions.

Trump is stupid. He does not know enough to know what he does not know, and he is too ego driven to ever learn anything new.

His lack of foreign policy knowledge alone should be disqualifying. The fact that he thinks he actually knows more than professionals within our administration certainly is disqualifying.

He is your ranting drunk uncle at thanksgiving dinner.

Of course you should be shamed for voting for a demagogue crank.

A big thing with Trump is that he comes-across as being very knee-jerk in his opinions, rather than rational or intelligent. I don't actually know where he'll fall on any issue because I think he makes up his opinions on the spot, based on whatever he thinks/feels at that moment, or based on whatever is most advantageous to say. It's like facts and reality have no bearing on his opinions. For example, I've seen videos of him saying good or bad things about Hillary Clinton's job as Secretary of State, depending on whatever opinion benefits him. Sometimes, it feels like Trump's opinions are about as well-informed as an average 10 year-olds.

In many ways, Trump reminds me of President Camacho from Idiocracy, and his supporters act like extras from the movie. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sGUNPMPrxvA What's funny about this clip, too, is that Comancho is claiming that Joe is going to solve all their problems - which sounds a lot like Trump's bombastic statements about the fixing everything, but being short on any details. He comes across as having no solutions except dumb ones, but people (for some unknown reason) believe he's capable of fixing everything simply because he says so.

I also think Trump is inside the billionaire bubble - just like the "Handsome Bubble" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=15MwhPv3Ud4 - because he's rich, all these sycophants around him tell him that he's the best and has the best ideas. As a result, he has this bizarre inflated ego that makes him think all his dumb ideas are gold. Why his supporters don't see this, I don't know. It's deeper than a simple "I vote for Democrats, and he's a Republican, so I'm going to shame his supporters as a political tactic". McCain didn't get this level of disdain because McCain actually comes from the rational, intelligent end of Republicanism (the same McCain that Trump attacked last year saying, ""He's not a war hero," Trump said. "He's a war hero because he was captured. I like people that weren't captured." ... "I never liked him after that, because I don't like losers," Trump said.). Trump is just like this weird "I'll say lots of stupid, insulting things about anybody" loudmouth with poor impulse control.

It makes people wonder what's wrong with people who support his presidency.

A lot of people see videos of those at Trump rallies and you gotta admit... the comments and manner in which many of them act doesn't happen at Clinton rallies.

Just as a bunch of people turn on the TV and see the same 4 images of black men being arrested and think "all blacks are criminals."

That's what the media has done for Trump supporters. Every image of a Trump rally is of people spitting at others or happily calling people every racial epithet or derogatory term they can think of.

Legit looks like White People Gone Wild and Vicious or 4Chan or the manosphere or YouTube comments IRL.

And again, you simply aren't going to see that type of vitriol at a Clinton or even Rubio or McCain or Romney rally. And for all of the widespread fanaticism Obama inspired back in 08, there weren't any videos of people behaving or conducting themselves in the manner the media portrays some attendees of Trump rallies.

Same when you go to social media and especially Twitter. I challenge you to do a general search of both supporters and you'll find many Trump supporters Tweet some heinous despicable off the wall shit.

It's like Trump brings out many people's worst trolling selves.

Which is cool and all in a "We have our God Given right to purge" kind of way, but it also makes the masses watching think "ohh these mother fuckers would happily sign up for "The Purge" or "look the other way" if a new millennium Holocaust sprung about.

Now again it's prob just a loud minority of Trump supporters who always get captured on video at the rallies, but it's enough to strike an uneasy feeling in the rest.

So to CYV- not all Trump supporters are shamed or called deplorable. Just the ones constantly caught behaving deplorably. The rest of you end up tainted by them. Sucks but it's life.

Trump supporters shouldn't be shamed

There's a guy named Paul at my roommate's church. Paul is what makes it work. When people need money for food? Paul actually behaves the way Christians were instructed, in their magic book. Sometimes, he even makes that food. He's one of the best cooks I've ever met.

He has a kind word for everyone who has earned one, and he's great at finding the potential in those who may not even recognize it in themselves.

The light he carries, and the warmth inside him, is the closest I've ever seen to an actual reason to believe in a "Holy Ghost".

I wish him and his husband only happiness, in the time they have left, before the cancer kills him.

Trump, meanwhile, is offended by their marriage. Or, at least, he pretends to be.

He has yet to come up with a good reason.

But that won't stop him from appointing justices who will end marriage for a lot of good people, good people just like Paul and his husband. The hatred he intends to ride to the white house, the hatred he stokes at every given opportunity, can't even bother to pretend to hide itself.

Many Trump supporters absolutely should be ashamed of themselves. In the absence of that shame, there's no reason for any of us who aren't bigots to apologize for publicly shaming them.

They have no right to any safe spaces, when they want to tear them down for everyone else.

Well this depends why your voting for him.

Do you believe climate change is a Chinese hoax? Yes you should be shamed. You don't believe in facts.

Do you not believe in abortion? No. this is a moral opinion.

Do you believe most Muslims in the US commit violent crimes or terrorism? Yes, this is false, muslims commit little to no terrorism in the US, the vast majority of mass shootings are committed by other people.

Do you believe that Obama founded ISIS? Yes, not only shamed but urged to see a psychiatrist. Obama wasn't president and ISIS was founded by Al-Baghdadi.

Put it this way, you should be shamed if you are a fact denier, not a conservative.

Because while Hillary is corrupt she falls within the normal range for a career politician. Perhaps at the high end, but nothing particularly amazing.

While Trump is a mix between angry bigoted uncle ruining Thanksgiving with his rants, rapey trust fund frat boy, and homeless meth addict.

Let's start with a very extreme example: should we shame nazi supporters? I think we all agree that we should shame them for their despicable ideas.

Now let's look at the other end: should we shame McCain supporters, who are really not racist, have no real opinion on race and are mostly fiscal conservatives? I think we should not shame them.

So somewhere inbetween these two examples is a line. Cross it and you can be shamed. Do Trump supporters cross that line? I'd say a lot of them do. Twittering "repeal the 19th" is absolutely not cool. The stuff that is said at a lot of rallies by his supporters is not cool. What Limbaugh says "The left cares about consent, what idiots" is not cool. Defending literal sexual assault is not cool. I think these things can and should be shamed. And given how many Trump supporters I see doing those things, I think that it's not entirely unfair to shame them for their beliefs.

I think because he's so absurd that it's not him anymore, it's the people who support him. They are the ones that are ok with his insanity.

In regards to Clinton, most people don't like her, they're just simply voting for her because Trump is such a dumpster fire. If the Republicans had another candidate, the race would be tighter. Criticism of Trump isn't an endorsement of Clinton.

Trump is a pretty despicable man himself, but you could imagine people supporting him based on his policies. However, his policies are pretty horrid as well. The kind of people that support that stuff are generally not very nice people because those views are awful.

Shaming people though? Probably not worthwhile.
