Couple things to unpack here.
They originally tried contraceptives ON MEN. The canned the idea because a small majority of men developed penis shrinkage.
Meanwhile.... SEVERAL WOMEN died in the first oral contraceptive trials and it is well documented that oral contraceptives can cause stroke and death in some women. So, a man having some penis shrinkage is more of a concern than women dying. That’s misogyny off the charts.

at least for the oral contraceptive, the reason why it was pushed for women to take it (when research was split on whether scientists should develop a drug for women or men) was so they could have control over their bodies without having to rely on the man for birth control. It is a burden (negative side effects) but I can see why it is good for the option to be there, independent of what the man wants to do.

The main reason why the burden of birth control falls on women is because women overwhelmingly have more to lose from an unwanted pregnancy.

For women, getting pregnant can literally ruin your life, especially if at the wrong time or with the wrong man. Your body will never be the same, you'll be shamed as a single mother, your career derailed, you'll be forever tied to a NVM/LVM, hell some women can even die in childbirth.

Men, AT MOST, might have to pay some child support. And even that is not guaranteed. For the most part, if a man gets a woman pregnant, he can just ghost on her and his life will remain almost completely unaffected.

Is it fair? HELL NO. But that's the way it is. Biology isn't fair. And this is why FDS doesn't care about being fair, we only care about being strategic. If you are having sex and don't want a baby, fucking take birth control doesn't matter if it's fair or not. Better yet, don't have sex with men at all until you have vetted him thoroughly and deemed him a worthy potential father.

I have been SAYING this for ages! Women have many different constantly fluctuating hormones. We were never used in medical testing for any other kind of drug because our cycles made it too difficult to monitor and safely interact with other chemicals.... Through all the trials, bad side effects, yknow death and all, somehow we still became saddled with the whole burden of this shit. Many times you have to pay for it yourself, schedule, maintain, stay on top of, very likely get effected negatively. My friend was hospitalized from her IUD. I have been bleeding every day since getting the implant. Literally every girl I know that was on the pill says it was the worst thing - acne, depression, weight gain, nausea, headaches, no desire to even have sex.

All men have to do is slid a thin little sleeve over their almighty wieners. But it’s most important that we suffer for their 30 seconds of pleasure because somehow the cheapest, least invasive, least impactful option is the worst one and the world will end if a man wraps it up.

It’s good that women have some control and a safety measure they can personally maintain. I would never trust a man to be protected while I wasn’t. What annoys me is there is no equal options for men. Society just shrugged and said “as long as women will handle all that, we’ll leave it here.” Then to turn around and try to take those things away from us anyway. I propose that both men and women have a variety of options because if men are so concerned about being baby-trapped, wouldn’t they want the assurance of knowing they’re covered?? But we continue to make zero advancements on male birth control because a couple of them felt a fraction of what women go through every day. Vasectomies can be reversed. Condoms do not cause that much discomfort. The few easy options available to men are ignored yet women are shamed for wanting to have sex and not handling the expense and pain of whatever complicated, body altering options we’ve been given.

I'm about to go into hospital for an investigation into severe menstrual bleeding which I've been having for the past 6 months (after having come off the mini pill which I was on for over a decade). I'm passing clots the size of my palm and the bleeding is so heavy I have to wear incontinence pads. I am not the only woman to experience this. Most of my peers are going through the same thing. Our ancestors didn't. My mother never experienced this yet my older sister and I are. The one thing we all have in common is that we have all taken the pill for decades during our fertile year's.

My advice to younger women is Don't take it find another method that doesn't interfere with your natural menstrual cycle.

If I knew that the end results would be this then I wouldn't have fucked up my biology to such a degree that I'm suffering from chronic fatigue from all the bleeding. The year's I've spent with headaches, dizziness, suicidal lows, violent mood swings, killing my libido, weight gain, insatiable appetite, nausea etc. It wasn't until I came off all contraceptives did I realise that a lot of my problems were associated with it.

It was a slow process to get all the symptoms and it was slow eliminating them. So much so I never even contributed them to the pill, it's only now that I refuse to take them do I feel like a normal human again, 10 months since my last pill

I think the burden lies on women because it is women who get pregnant. It is unfair, but I think that will ultimately always be the reason the burden of birth control falls largely on women, because they will be most impacted by it.

Now, following that logic, women should also have the right to end a pregnancy, no questions asked.

Women are already getting the burden, so they should also get the corresponding right to handle that burden however they see fit.

I’ve seen a documentary on this. It falls to women, medically speaking, because medicines are approved based on risk. Whilst there are side effects to birth control (that I’m sure we’re all well aware of and have experienced) the risk of pregnancy and the side effects are higher making the birth control work or. As men have no physical side effects of having sex e.g pregnancy which leads to high BP, blood clots etc taking medicine will always pose more of a risk than not taking it. Meaning it will never be approved. It’s infuriating but basically it’s on us because birth control is less deadly than pregnancy 🤰🏻

I read that the risks of blood clots, stroke etc. that come with taking birth control are less than that of the risk of carrying a pregnancy to term and giving birth. The risks for men taking birth control are quite high too but because they don't have to carry to term or give birth, there's no higher risk than taking the birth control for them and that's why it hasn't been developed. I think it's ridiculous, people can make their own choices and not even putting the option for male birth control out there because it's not worth the risk is ridiculous imo.

It actually makes sense that the sex that is fertile less of the time would have more BC options. With that said condoms are still popular y'all. They are still the most commonly used form of BC AND they protect against many STIs! Lastly only idiot liberal feminist types/the "free love" folks/the type of people who believe in "kink shaming" (males and females) would shame women for using not using hormonal BC. They act like BC is some sort of treatment for an illness (everybody knows women are defective because they have functioning reproductive organs amirite??) rather than an elective contraceptive method (that can also be used to mask symptoms of other hormonal problems). From my understanding by following Mamma Doctor Jones, OBGYN. Since men create seaman which as we all know, goes inside another body. This has to be accounted for. The science just isn't there yet. It is technically easier/ "safer" for us to take birth control. We aren't producing something that can physically harm someone else. Until that science is there, this is what we have. It's not a scheme per say. More of a way to not create killer sperm.
