Since there's always a whole bunch of "post a pic of what you consider attractive/an 8/9/10"-threads, I wanted to open a slightly different one: this time it's exclusively about what you consider average (or slightly above or below). EDIT: and with that I mean regarding facial aesthetics, for one simple reason - you can get in shape, but short of plastic surgery, you're stuck with your face.

Two reasons for that:

  1. Ratings are highly subjective - and I am not talking about the looks of the person rated, but of the meaning of the number: what one person considers a 7 may be a 9 for another person even before they say which person they're talking about. I was looking for something less ambiguous.
  2. High ratings are in a way less controversial: even if someone may disagree about whether Angelina Jolie is the hottest thing since forever or not, I doubt that anyone who is honest would describe her as unremarkable or even unattractive. Average? Not so much.

The rules?

  • average doesn't necessarily mean "neither appealing nor repulsive" - it simply means that the person doesn't really stand out between his or her age-peers. Someone can be average and still somewhat attractive (when younger) - just not enough to be considered remarkable. What you consider these numbers is up to you (hence my insistence on "average" and not on "5"). If you think most women are 4s, post 4s. If you think a 6s is still average, include what you consider 6s if you want to.
  • normalize looks. If someone looks as if a bunch of hairdresses and makeup-artists turned him/her into a topmodel, remove these perks mentally. A fully dolled up average woman may look better than an attractive woman completely without makeup.
  • preferably celebrities only. The reason for this is that there are assloads of pics of them on the internet, with or without makeup, and we aren't just limited to a single picture that may not be a real representation of that person's looks. Additionally, many people may already know how that person looks like and don't have to dig out more pictures in the first place.
  • you can post pics if you want, but you can also stick to naming them. After all, everybody should know how to operate google image search.
  • age is secondary. The person should just be "average" when compared to her age-peers - that the average-looking 60 year old Hollywood actress who never underwent surgery won't give people random boners is simply a given, the question is how well she holds up with other (normal) women of her age.
  • if someone was only average during a particular phase of his or her live, mention what age you're refering to. Some people age poorly or have undergone a botched surgery, others had a good surgeon and actually looked better at some point than they started out as.
  • you can post men or women or both. (I picked only women because reasons)
