Instead of "promotes", I'd say the better word is "normalizes". Those behaviors were always there, just more isolated. Social media normalizes bad behaviors in everybody. Not just women. And sometimes it can normalize good or neutral behaviors, too.

Two reasons for this: anonymity and group think.

Before the internet, sluts were lonely. They only garnered a support group if they took a big personal risk by disclosing their slutting to real people in the real world in an attempt to find a like-minded group of friends. That was a big risk, because they would have to out themselves to many people who didn't approve in the process, and at any moment, one of these friends could turn on them or on others in the group.

So slutty women were lonely and didn't come forward about their slutting, while awash in a society that didn't approve of slutting.

Now, you can post something anonymous on the internet, and millions of other anonymous people will post approval and agreement and share similar stories about their slutty lifestyles. Fast forward to today, and finding a group of like-minded sluts is easy. You can come out of the slut closet now, because so many people are like-minded and easy to find.

But the same is true about The Red Pill. We've always felt a certain way about certain things, but awash and alone in a society that declares it wrong to have such thoughts. But anonymously on Reddit, you can find a hundred thousand people who think like you do. People you've never met or spoken with, telling stories about their lives that sound just like your stories. Before the internet, you'd have to confide in real world people and hope they didn't out you, so you were alone.

It seems to me social media has allowed a lot of misogyny that was previously hidden to come out into the open.

I don't have examples on Instagram but facebook has all those pages like "big booty hoes" that are men-centric. Men like to look at big oiled butts, women like to laugh at memes about pizza and sex. We all have our vices.

What social media has done more than anything is demonize slut-shaming, which makes women think it's fine to be open about these things, and even proud of it

My only disagreement would be that it is not necessarily bad behavior. Sexual expression is IMHO necessary and life affirming for women. I wish that there were more sexually satisfied people in the world, and I don't consider it to be "bad behavior" for women to have casual sex or be "slutty", which is what most of those instas were about. Casual sex isn't for everyone, but for some people it's great. TRP certainly embraces that principle...for men.

"Bad behavior" is subjective. Are these young women hurting anyone with their antics? Or are they just enjoying their lives in ways you don't personally approve of? Is the female desire for sex and validation "bad" in your opinion? How about for males?

Social media quiets the oppressive voices of the previously vocal minority. The Internet has ushered in an era of freedom for people to do what they have always wanted. Fun and youthful exploration don't belong to men anymore.

Cultures change and evolve, holding on to outdated social norms will only make you unhappy and isolated.

So it's kind of pointless to get upset about other people's happiness. Regardless of whether you think it's "classy".

You act like this is limited to women. Personally, I don't do social media very much. But from what I've heard of it, men and women act badly on it. It feeds into human narcissism, not just for women. So why focus just on the women?

Points 3 and 5 are on point about the shallowness of Open Hypergamy, but idk, this describes a degree of vacuousness in women that I have to say I not once experienced with my ex/lost female friend. In fact she loathed, despised this Kim K 'culture'
