Social Justice Warrior has become shorthand for liberal feminist extremist, and was/is used to mock the persecution complex, entitlement and hypocrisy of online progressive slacktivists.

However, I've seen a disturbing trend arise, where the term is used in feminist apologia. I've seen feminists try to convince the neutral crowd that this is not representative of feminism, goes against feminism, and is just an internet fad for angsty teens. I've seen SJW used by "moderates" to distance themselves from the hysterical extremists.

Worse yet, I've seen a few MRAs and other non-feminists try to sugarcoat their criticism by pretending (or worse, actually believing) they're only against Social Justice Warriors, not actual, real feminists.

Problem is, the hysterical extremists ARE mainstream feminism. Here is a good read, with sources about why "moderate" feminists don't matter.

The problem with the term SJW is that it fools people into thinking its not feminism, that it doesn't represent feminism, or doesn't conform to feminism's tenets. The problem with the term SJW is that it deludes people into thinking feminism isn't a problem.

And that is why I wish people would stop using SJW, and just call them what they are, feminists.
