For me it's quite simple. Living is equal facing hardships and overcoming them. Living is working, not the paid work, but work in it pure meaning. The world around us was built under extreme effort of those who preceeded us. To be a man is to aknowledge our own responsibility on keeping the train moving. It means working hard to achieve your accomplishments, it means giving value to what really matters to you, it means not to complain about your hardships knowing that everyone is struggling too. For me, being a man involves having an honour code that makes you care about other people just as a society was supposed to do. To be a man means improving your skills and aquiring new ones, it mean never stop to learn things. For me its basically being strong and resilient while facing all troubles life will throw at us to prove our value. Being a man is really finding purpose on your existence so you know where you came from and where you wanna go.

Usually trp essays are hackneyed bullshit but this is good shit. Be a man’s man.

[–]beersleuth6 points7 points  (2 children) | Copy

So basically--being a man amongst other men, independent of women--means controlling our surroundings?

[–]Zackville4 points5 points  (0 children) | Copy

Means be councious about yourself and your role in the world. Become self aware and improve yourself just as the men before us did, this is why the world keeps evolving and each man should participate in this work. Valuing others works and getting our own hands dirty.

A new, very interesting Tribe by our very own /u/cainprice:

In a world where the role of men has shifted from leader and provider to eye-candy, entertainer, and taxpayer, boys are raised nearly exclusively by women, and society hates masculinity with a passion, many men have no idea what it really means to be a man. They grow beards, drink beer, and follow sports teams, because these are "masculine" hobbies that men are allegedly supposed to do. But is this really who they are, or is this just what lost boys do because they don't know what else to do?

The majority of discussions regarding masculinity and what it means to be a man in the modern day never seem to focus on men, but instead focus on women. Wander over to a forum filled with "Men Going Their Own Way" (MGTOW), and the majority of their discussions aren't about their accomplishments, hobbies, and successes. Instead, they discuss how much women suck. The defining quality of these men is not their stance on the place of men in the world, but on the place of women in the world. Wander over to a forum about the Men's Liberation movement, and you see the opposite: men who hate men instead of men who hate women. Self-hating feminist men eager to cut their balls off and hand their alleged privilege to allegedly more deserving people.

What do women do for us that we can't do for ourselves? Two things: Have babies and sate our desire for heterosexual sex. That is the role of women in the world, as far as men are concerned. Anything else you might want from a woman, such as companionship, money, help around the house - you can do that yourself, or another man can do that for you. Those aren't feminine roles. They're just human roles. Unless you need a baby or heterosexual sex, you don't need a woman.

What do men do for women that women can't do for themselves? The same things: Impregnate them and sate their desire for heterosexual sex. That's your role in the world, as far as women are concerned. They can make their own money and fold their own laundry, or find other women to do that. Or men. But unless they're specifically after sperm or dick, anything else a woman wants can be provided by any human, not necessarily a man.

Our goal here is to explore the role of men in the world, independent of women. For now, ignore what women do for men, what women don't do for men, or what men do for women. Just focus on you. On men. On manhood. What does it mean to be a man today? What are you into? What makes it manly?

I don't have the answers, only questions and opinions. I don't know what masculinity is or should be, but society is afraid of it, whatever it is, and carefully censors the topic. So I invite us to congregate, as men, in this dark corner of the internet, and discuss our lives and the forms that modern masculinity can take.

[–]KingOfAllWomen44 points45 points  (0 children) | Copy

and society hates masculinity with a passion,

They say they do but they don't.

Masculine guys still have no problem finding pussy, and it's usually fat as disgusting women who bleat the loudest about "toxic" stuff.

The movies that are the most popular still praise the masculine figures. The heros are almost always extremely masculine. As much as the media pushes the pussy boy idea no real people actually want to spend their money and watch them.

And look at the women in your town? Rate them from 1 - 10 on a combo package of all around desirability? Who are the 8 - 10s with? What kind of guys?

So who gives a fuck what goes on in MGTOW and Male Feminist forums? Anywhere there's winners there's also going to be losers and if these guys need to hug it out in echo chambers with each other so be it. BUT, You wouldn't take investment advice from someone who has no assets. You don't take diet and workout advice from fat people. Why would you care what any of these groups of people say about masculinity?

Interesting topic.

Heres things i do that i feel is manly or atleast makes me feel manly.

I recently had a daughter, so am learning to better my self and be a father to my daughter, and i as a man have overcome my self and now can fully take care of her in the absence of my wife and teaching her to be a strong person in life and many other things that would take too long to list.

I now own a large male hunting dog that i train and play with. Me and him go on hiking and spent time together alone which kinda makes me feel like we both get our primal dose especially when me and him rough play.

I know how to fix things, i can build, i can do things on my own and need of no hand holding.

I make sure our house is safe, all the locks works and everything that is in the house is working.

I own guns, i practice shooting them, i teach my wife how to handle guns in the case we have intruders and im not there.

I self practice martial arts just to stay fit and be able to fight in case i must protect my family.

I work on my cars, i can maintain them and make sure they are in their best condition.

I like going in the back yard and chopping wood just because and i recently built a small shed to store all the cut wood.

I enjoy camping and making fires without lighter or lighter fluid, also love making food especially meats.

I have many hobbies, i can entertain my self when alone for days.

I have a beard and learned to make my beard oils and balms.

These are some of the things i do which i have found that makes me feel manly in a society that does not accept masculinity. In this day and age i cannot hunt for my tribe or fight wars for my tribe which is what i always imagine my self doing if i was living that life.

So, a lot of what i listed that i do may sound mundane, but unfortunately there is not much left to practice what we men think are manly things to do.

i can do a wheelie in every gear on my dirt bike

[–]DarthFaded2 points3 points  (1 child) | Copy

Ohh man. Thats pretty manly, personally.

I have driven street bike around the block once. But to do a wheelie takes balls.

I wipe my ass with sandpaper made in Texas not soft shit from Target.

[–]JohnnySixguns1 point2 points  (0 children) | Copy

And I splurge for the extra soft premium toilet paper because, as a man, my butt crack deserves the best.

[–]avengeance0 points1 point  (1 child) | Copy

Jesus there bro. All your missing is an axe and a red/black flannel

[–]DarthFaded0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy

Haha i wouldnt mind.

[–]JohnnySixguns0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy

Good list.

But there’s nothing non-masculine about using lighter fluid my brother.

I keep several jugs of the stuff and I burn my trash, yard debris and whatever else I want to reduce to ashes. And I do it rain or shine, all thanks to the power of copious amounts of lighter fluid.

Thanks for posting this, will read soon. I’m just glad to finally see something with clarity here on red pill forums.

There is just been so much politicking going on even within the red pill community.

No one creates a man, real Man create themselves in a chaotic world

[–]avengeance2 points3 points  (2 children) | Copy

I'm not sure what would it mean to be a man, since my dad left when I was young and my mom and sister raised me.

Reading books like "extreme ownership" has really help get myself out of the "victim" mindset and take responsibility for everything in my life regardless if it was your own doing or not.

My life right now consists of working 2 jobs, a warehouse and serving job. I also exercise religiously. Trying to do more reading and producing music as well. Does this make me a man?

I don't know, but when I can get home I do excited to either read or make music.

[–]DarthFaded5 points6 points  (1 child) | Copy

You are not a Victim.

Also, the fact that you are working on molding your self into a better version of your self is manly enough.

[–]avengeance4 points5 points  (0 children) | Copy

Thank you it means a lot to me

[–]beachbbqlover13 points14 points  (5 children) | Copy

Why the masturbatory self inflating language?

For me, endless perseverance and suffering seems to define being a man.

[–]LovecraftsNightmare7 points8 points  (2 children) | Copy

I’d argue that that is just another way that ‘they’ want you to perceive masculinity. If you’re not suffering you’re not being a man!

Come on, of course that’s nonsense, I can persevere at something I enjoy but that doesn’t have to mean I suffer before/during/after just because I’m a man

[–][deleted] 6 points7 points  (1 child) | Copy

I disagree. Gain and sacrifice are not always mutually exclusive. To gain without sacrifice is preferrable when compared to having to sacrifice.. however if one wishes to gain more, then sacrifice is required. Sacrifice = change = struggle

[–]imares4 points5 points  (0 children) | Copy

agreed. anyone who's gotten exceedingly skilled at anything, whether it be lifting, an instrument, an art, it all can be extremely mentally and physically taxing. if it isn't, you're either genetically gifted or you're not improving.

[–]JohnnySixguns0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy

The upward surge of mankind is precisely about finding ways to avoid such suffering.

Threatened? Kill the threat.

No food? Hunt

No animals to hunt? Build a farm.

Hard work? Build a machine to make it easier.

Slow internet? Get high speed internet

WE ARE HERE ===>Small TV? Buy a 75” 8k for your game day man cave

What do men do for women that women can't do for themselves? The same things: Impregnate them and sate their desire for heterosexual sex.

Men also provide women protection.

[–]RightHandWolf0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy

According to the commercials, Stay-Free Tampons provide the best feminine protection . . . with an assist from Summer's Eve.

[–]RP_GatFirlzDrooL0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy

Do whatever you believe in with absolute conviction and passion. That's it. That's really all you need to do. It has to be something of some inherent value to both you and society. Zero half-assing and you have to be unapologetic in the process. Be the best version of yourself that you can be. This has very little to do with women. They are merely an indicator of how well you are doing everything I just mentioned.

Also, look good naked. It's important.

[–]yomo860 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy

Being a man is being self sufficent for me. What can't be done with your own brains or muscle has to be acquired by yourself either through pay or pain.

[–]SwSamII0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy

Be a Jack of All Trades, but there are a few you probably should master.

Be able to protect yourself and others in all situations whether in the rural or urban settings.

Provide nourishment-hunt, raise animals, gather, garden and earn a living.

Build what you need-home, shelter, storage in any situation.

Have mechanical knowledge and the ability to make repairs.

Medicinal or home remedy knowledge. Pay close attention when around Dr's, nurses, etc and they are talking shop. It's also beneficial to pay attention to your elders at all times.

And as poor as it seems to be these days, a public education still has benefits. Gain as much knowledge as possible about any subject that can pay dividends down the road.

That is a lot of preparation. It is a lifetime of work.

You never know where you might find yourself and you might be the ONE that everyone looks to for advice and leadership.

Remember if others don't recognize your abilities, DON'T FAIL YOURSELF!

What it was, compared to what it is... that is what has changed. Society changed the role of men and women.

Since women can do everything men can do (minus getting another woman pregnant... well they can even fuck each other with a strap on, though), we truly need to redefine ourselves. Men as a whole have lost their ability to identify with something. At the root, we have lost our ego. We need our ego, because it defines us, it gives us a place to return to. This gives us great comfort in social settings. When someone else is wrong (their opinion), it is because of our ego that we are able to say they’re wrong or right. Whether we say this aloud, or to ourselves, doesn’t matter. The point is, it’s how we identify with ourselves, and those around us.

Men with traditional values are quickly fading, and new generations are coming in. Recently, I was surrounded by several high ranking officers, mostly all in their 50’s. During a meeting, they all spoke about how they have to change and mutate themselves into this new culture. That they, in essence, had no choice, and they have been overridden. How even the guys who never thought they would have social media, now do. They need it to be able to communicate with the younger people in their family, because it’s the only way these younger people know how to communicate. We have major changes occurring in our societies, faster than anyone could of ever guessed and it’s sweeping people in like never before.

At the root of all of this, we have a dick... and we also have testosterone. Testosterone is aggression, it is power, and it is strength. So why not maximize it and identify with it? Any and all activities related to its utilization.

That’s all I got. Everything else is just another activity that anyone can do, regardless of their sex.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
