How do I get rid of nervousness in my voice

It’s a trait that creeps up and it’s ridiculous when you don’t get taken seriously because of it.

Does it come down to exposure to social situations?

It's also less noticeable to others than to you.

Can confirm. Had to defend my Masters Thesis. Thought my voice was a bit shakey since I had to do it via webcam, but they didn’t notice

[–]KillaJewels30 points31 points  (2 children) | Copy

Seems like most people don’t like their own voice.

I’ve noticed my voice gets deeper after cold showers, long work hours, spending time in the sun, after hard workouts and going deep inside.

I recall Julien Blanc had some good advice for that also: Concentrate on speaking from your core/stomach. I find that helpful during client/office presentations or when I want to get a group’s attention.

and going deep inside.

You are pedastalizing the people around you. Care too much what in 2 out of 7,619,444,073 people think..

Nah, deep voice is a cheat code in life. Morgan Freeman could read a phone book and bitches in a half-mile radius would still get wet. Dude looks like a retired muppet.

When u dont jerk off for a few weeks you get a strong deep voice srs.

Also sleep well and lift

[–]MultiMidsets33 points34 points  (0 children) | Copy

Sleep a lot

Edit: also make sure you drink your water

[–]Rimefang7 points8 points  (0 children) | Copy

Well, it IS NNN

[–]RockSoy14 points15 points  (4 children) | Copy

Any source to confirm this?

[–]DeltaDiezel9 points10 points  (2 children) | Copy

Literally going through this rn there is a noticeable difference imo it’s not as hard to project when I want to than when I was beating my dick constantly.

If you’re willing to do whatever it takes to win, go out of your way to get genital herpes quickly (Grindr should work well) and cover your bases with consistent key bumps of coke or crystal meth throughout the month to keep your unfappable blistered dick at a constant chemically induced softness

You may or may not wind up with more lingering effects to deal with than just the herpes, but that’s all in the price of victory at all costs

[–]Alt_Mayday6 points7 points  (0 children) | Copy

ok thanks

[–]Yung_Ekko10 points11 points  (0 children) | Copy

THIS. 100% agree and notice it.

[–]WB2E4 points5 points  (5 children) | Copy

If you don't jerk off, but you bang a lot of girls and bust, then it will still have the same negative effect as jerking off.

Na bro the confidence boost u get from slaying some strange seems to outweigh the semen loss.

So u project stronger frame and more secure in ur sexuality. This translates to a voice which is far from nervous

[–]WB2E1 point2 points  (1 child) | Copy

Definitely agree you get greater abundance mentality and stronger frame from sleeping with hot girls.

With everything equal, you have stronger frame losing semen from banging hot girl vs losing semen from jerking off.

I'd argue voice is more physiological/physical. From my personal experience I can't control how my body physiologically and physically responds to loss of semen but my voice is weaker, less conviction, less depth. I'm sure everyone's experience differs.

[–]Rkingpin1 point2 points  (0 children) | Copy

responds to loss of semen but my voice is weaker, less conviction, less depth.

I also experience this. But shakiness and that weak voice shit is enhanced more with fapping to porno shit.

Like if u was to go bang a hb8 vs jacking off to lesbian squirt vids

Only of those outcomes will give u a badly nervous shaky voice that might stop u from cold approaching

[–]Mr_Brightside010 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy

Its true, even when you do jerk off and bang a bitch. After the bang sesh your voice and whole aura feels manly as shit.

Read out loud

[–]PincheeWhey4 points5 points  (0 children) | Copy

"Talking with a pen in my mouth has helped me become a better communicator.

I noticed that I wasn't pronouncing my words properly when I talked. I'd sometimes chew up my words and speak too quickly, which would kill the smoothness of the conversation. So I started reading out loud news articles and anything that I could get my hands on with a pen in my mouth. I bite down on a pen across my teeth and then try and talk with the pen as an obstacle in my mouth.

This forces my tongue to work harder and it makes be think a lot more about my pronunciation as a I talk. Practicing for a half hour a day has helped my talk so much better. Also, the talking warms your vocal cords, so when you go out and talk to women, you're voice is nice and projected because you've spent time already warming up.

Final tip. Try keeping your tongue at the base of your mouth behind your bottom teeth. This allows more air out and gives your voice an extra bit of boom."

Beta blockers are great for this, specifically propranolol. I have really bad hand tremors 24/7 and a shaky voice when I get nervous. Propranolol fixes both and there is actually a period of time after d/c the drug that the symptoms still do not come back.

You can easily get prescribed propranolol from a PCP or order it from an Indian pharmacy for cheap. Its a very benign drug.

[–]fleshcoveredskeleton2 points3 points  (0 children) | Copy

So propranolol is literally a "beta blocker" hahah

[–]mustache_ride_0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy

Beta blockers are a class of medications that are predominantly used to manage abnormal heart rhythms.

Just like you shouldn't take Iron supplements if you don't need to, don't touch it if it's ain't broken.

Shit that’s actually interesting, could you give me some examples of what you eat? Right now I’m just eating a whole lot of chicken, rice, fish, peanut butter and oats lmao

Definitely gonna look into that. Been trying to hit my macros but neglecting vitamins and minerals and shit completely. Thanks bro

[–]Mr_Brightside011 point2 points  (0 children) | Copy

Talk louder than usual, it helps establish presence and gives you a confidence undertone.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children) | Copy

My top tips for removing nervousness in your voice and demeanour (I am deadly serious):

  1. Shut up.

  2. Only speak when you want to and know what you're saying and why, not just because you feel you have to.

  3. Believe in what you're saying and make sense.

  4. Be confident.

  5. Take a moment and re-centre yourself when you feel yourself doing it.

[–]shouldergirdle1 point2 points  (0 children) | Copy

  1. Speak loudly and clearly
  2. speak slower
  3. Speak with a deeper voice
  4. Stop up-talking like a 12 year old girl. Instead make declarative statements.
  5. Eliminate filler words such as "to be honest", "In my humble opinion", "basically",etc.
  6. Eliminate the nervous giggle after you say something.
  7. Know what you are talking about.
  8. Practice the above.

If you do the above, and do it often you will sound like a man. You will develop a presence, especially compared to all the soy boys around everywhere. People will react positively to you when you speak, bingo bango....nervousness replaced by confidence.

[–]jjj25760 points1 point  (4 children) | Copy

Are you actually nervous or do you just sound nervous?

Have you had any hobbies or jobs that require an aptitude for public speaking or facilitation?

[–]BeanNCheeze2 points3 points  (2 children) | Copy

It’s a mix of both. I sound more nervous then I am. Reflecting it’s me being disconnected from the moment and not knowing how to react, becoming awkward. So... you could say nervousness.

I haven’t. I work retail right now but I’m the back room for most of the time.

[–]jjj25762 points3 points  (0 children) | Copy

Makes sense.

Have you read “The Book of Pook?” This book does wonders for actualizing your own value— your internal paradigm has you worried about being awkward, which WILL trickle out, even if you practice public speaking.

Albeit, practice public speaking still— its an important skill to have. Focus on changing that part of you internally that is disconnected from the moment.

[–]kellykebab2 points3 points  (0 children) | Copy

Instead of focusing so much on what you're going to say, focus on really listening in depth to whomever you're speaking to.

Also, stay hydrated. Do core workouts in the morning. And when you do speak to people, speak lower, from the diaphragm.

[–]mustache_ride_1 point2 points  (0 children) | Copy

Exactly. Exposure therapy would help here.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy

Freestyle rap and/or improvise speeches in your free time. Reading out loud is solid as well for facial/throat muscles, though not for thinking on your feet.

[–]lil-sparky0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy

I had the same problem. I can’t tell you how to fix it all in one day, but I can get you to start by thinking on certain ideas and getting them to grow and push out bad ones. First you got to think to yourself why am I speaking? Is it to impress people, get accepted by people, or not be socially ostracized by people? What ever reason you have, it’s certain to come from a negative place. I ultimately replaced my negative reason with the understand that communication is a skill meant to be used for the good of my life. Even now I’m catching myself when it feels like I’m about to speak for the wrong reasons. I now try to only say anything when I feel it would be good for me and not necessarily anyone else.

[–]Immuchtooawesome0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy

if It’s work related, you have to be an expert in what you’re discussing. If it’s not, you’ll need to further develop your Weltanschauung. Once you have identified exactly what the world is, it’s comically easy to be confident within it.

Work out, take up a combat sport

[–]zboo1h0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy

Anything you do, you get better at.

Speak more to more people. Also, lifting (I believe) will broaden and deepen your voice.

You're also probably a nervous person generally speaking. Lifting will help with this. Also, learn an instrument. There's no way you can stay nervous when you're performing, you have to just "be" and "go" or whatever performers do, and you learn to do that outside of performing.

[–]BurnieSlander0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy

Figure out the reasons why you are nervous. Realize your reasons are stupid. Voice will follow

[–]masterduelistky0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy

I have the same problem, but in my case it’s because at work I need to talk over 40 teenagers. It’s something I’m constantly striving towards, I think it’s important to consistently try and be aware of what situations in which it rises and try and correct it.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
