A few days ago /u/llcjer made a post about Peter Schiff and his take on the cries for equal pay coming out from Hollywood.

One of the main points is that filmmakers are really only doing what they need to do to make money. Notions like sexism or racism don't factor because the goal is to make the most money not pursue some liberal agenda.

This interview on the BBC features Kristin Scott Thomas. There's a bit of filler but towards the end she makes two very important statements:

First is that the roles in film that she enjoys have often proven not to be successful i.e. roles of strong female characters. Second she says that unless the average lifespan changes to become 150 - and by extension our standards of attractiveness change too (which won't happen anytime soon) - you can't expect any real increase in the appeal of leading older women. To quote her any such dialogue is 'boring'.

There you have it folks - an honest female view on the ageism issue. Now if only the other old bags would just get on board.
