I can safely say that some guys are truly drawn towards red pill because they are naturally psychopathic. But, as a former TRPer, i'd say it's quite amazing the crazy shit that people can convince you to do when you feel desperate, lonely and feel life is unfair.

So the answer is yes and no.

Most aren't. They're just angry, confused, and suckered into a cult-like behavior out of desperation (and other various, more nuanced reasons). They can get over it, if they choose to do so.

Some are fucking sociopaths though. Those bastards are stuck.

People drawn to TRP are fundamentally insecure and carry a lot of sexual shame. I was a kind and pleasant person but didn't become assertive until last year.

The missing ingredients were: a set of values that removed the shame from sexual inexperience, developing an internal locus of control and allowing myself to be vulnerable.

Many of them, however, are overgrown manchildren who became bitter about being scorned in a relationship, so to make themselves feel better they take on the mindset that all women are slutty, shallow bitches who deserve to be treated like their personal fleshlights.

Rather than 'stepping out of the Matrix' they're actually narrowing their worldview by reinforcing their own shitty experiences by reading what is essentially overblown frat-boy fan fiction. So as the positive feedback loop in the echo chamber expands and the snowball gets larger, their field of vision gets smaller.

What they fail to realize is that being a douchewaffle is neither exclusive to men nor women. Assholes come in all genders and walks of life. The reason why they believe AWALT and all that other nonsense is because the type of woman who goes for roided-out meatheaded mongoloids on TRP are the ones who have low self-esteem, narcissistic, and don't really care whose pogo stick they're riding that week. So in order to 'game' these types of women, TRPers are of course going to think that they have to act like assholes in order to get laid at all. So they only begin to attract women like that, they believe all women are like that, the positive feedback loop continues.

But just like any cult, there are some good things they talk about; most of that, however, is typical common sense stuff like eating better, getting healthier, not letting anyone stand in the way of your goals, etc.

So while not everyone who falls into TRP ~~mantra~~ trap is an inherently bad person, it can slowly turn otherwise good people who didn't have much success with women in high school or college into bad people. All those fantastical fake stories posted on there can seem enticing to impressionable people who have no real-world experience about how to interact with others.

I think that would depend of what you mean by 'inherently bad'. I probably shouldn't be the first response, but I think I am the first person here ... and it's not as if the x-TRP guys here are going to go, yes, we are all fundamentally evil people.

I think that redpill guys, while definitely acting out of insecurity, social anxiety, etc - I think they were also raised in the same patriarchial society as the rest of us and pre-red-pill or pre unignorable mental affect to themselves, have likely never had serious cause to question their cultural values nor have the inclination to.

I sometimes get the inclination to, when I meet a guy who is buying into patriarchial nonsense, see it as a fundamental personal flaw in him ... but nobody is born feminist or actively-anti-patriachal, as it's a belief system and not the one you're indoctrinated in from birth, so they just need to learn. All the concepts I know now I had to learn at some point. It sucks when you have to deal with someone who is still like that, and it can be momentarily satisfying to mentally dismiss them.

I'm not an ex-terper (despite the username), but I know one and came here to post about him. He grew up in an environment that was simultaneously close to an idealised 50s childhood (nobody locked their doors, etc) and also very, very Catholic ... so ... and then had a really, really shit traumatic time of things once he moved to a more modern city, p much simultaneous to being presented with new ways of thinking. So it seems to me he's doubled down on what he already knows because it feels safer. That is what I assume most TRPers are doing.

In contrast, I'm female, so I got to experience in what ways catholic small-community thinking sucks from the word go. He didn't. He probably identifies as an atheist now, I would expect that, but I bet he's hung on to everything else.

I think there are definitely some men who subscribe to TRP ideas because they have decided/have been told that the only "loving" and close contact they can have with another human being is if it is a girl who they are dating. And hugging their male friends or crying around them is "gay". So thus they put women on this ridiculously high pedestal as this supreme being that is the only way they will ever achieve any kind of closeness or affection from any other human being. I think a lot of problems with men in TRP could be solved if they had not been told their whole lives that being close with other men would make them "gay", and that having emotions and sharing them with your close friends is not shameful or takes away from your masculinity. So I don't really consider them "bad", I think they've just been raised in a society that has put impossible expectations on them, and they're just seeking out the wrong solution to it because no one has yet to tell them otherwise. But maybe I'm just optimistic, who knows.

I don't think any of them are good, but not all of them are bad. Some are genuinely psychopathic and, shall I say, "evil" but others are just angry or hurt and are not ready to deal with it like adults.

No, I don't think RP guys are bad. In fact I think a lot of them are caring, empathetic guys who accidentally abuse their partners due to the RP ideology. RP ideology is most appealing to men who are paranoid and/or weak.

I think TRP tends to suck in a lot of overly sensitive overly empathetic pushover guys rather than sociopaths who already align with TRP ideas.

TRP is a perfect trap for guys who give too much, are too insecure to set boundaries, etc and who have ended up being taken advantage of. That was definitely the case for me. I was a total pushover, but I was a super nice guy. And in the genuine way, not the Nice Guys™ way. I just was never aggressive or confrontational with anyone, and I generally assumed the best of people. I fell into redpill after being cheated on by a girlfriend who I was supporting.

I'm sure I have some narcissistic tendencies, and so the control promised by the red pill was appealing. I also watched way too much porn starting when I was about 14 years old, so my expectations of sex are all fucked. I've been in relationships for the majority of my adult life, but because the girls didn't have porn star looks (and because when I was single I wasn't able to fuck a different perfect looking girl every weekend), I always felt like a failure.

So it was a combo of:

Super unrealistic expectations of sex making me feel like shit (I guess this debatably makes me a semi shitty person)
Getting cheated on

It just somehow coalesced into a "wake up call". And to be fair I did need to change how I approached things, but TRP was not the answer.

What does it even mean to be truly good?

What happens is people are born into a society, and that society sells memes (dawkins memes, not internet memes). People get programmed with these memes or social constructs or social ideas by their environment; parents, school, entertainment, news, and so on.

Couple this with the fact that we really do not teach critical thinking in elementary school. We teach children to learn facts; and most of those facts are lies; not to think for themselves.

Narratives are all sold differently depending on what region or sphere of influence one exists in.

Free will in reality is limited; your freedom to choose is based on what you believe you know, the matrix or plato's cave you existing. Once some beliefs are formed it takes a lot of doing to tear them down. And if a particular narrative seems to answer questions, or make someone feel better, they might be even harder to deal with.

Further, being called names, being alienated, and so on also work towards making people dig in their heels and reject counter narratives. So a person with what we would call sexist views is told they are a sexist, as opposed to having it explained why something might be considered sexist. This person does not believe they are a sexist, and they have no frame of reference outside of the insult. The person doing the insulting, and all they embody, gets rejected. The person then associates with people who do not take issue with the aforementioned sexist idea, and expands on that sexist idea. An ally is formed, one's version of reality is validated, and expanded upon.

We need to stop attacking people and attack ideas. We need to try to understand the life others have lived if we seek to bring them out of the matrix and into our reality. We have to use evidence based practices as opposed to the name calling and demonizing.

if you are talking about a lot of innate narcissism in PUA stuff, there is a lot of theory about a selfish gene being one of the driving forces behind humanity, trp just focuses on using that to drive promiscuity, don't everthink it
