Hey TRP,

I'm a long time fan of this sub and I wanted to contribute what I can. I've studied a great deal of family law and am currently a paralegal working in this field. I'm also attending law school and will be an attorney soon. With that said, I want to answer any questions anyone has about marriage/divorce in CALIFORNIA.

I want to help you guys learn as much as you can about the marriage process so that if you decide to marry, you know what to generally expect. (I'm not advocating it or anything, just arming you with information should you choose it.)

A couple important facts first:

-Every state is different, California is a community property state, for instance. Property law in CA works differently than it would in NJ, but similarly to WA.

-I am not your lawyer and nothing I say here is legal advice. I'm just here to answer questions about how the law GENERALLY works, not how it will work in YOUR situation (since your situation has many factors I'm not aware of).

-If any lawyers/paralegals from other states want to join in and help, please do! The more assistance offered here, the better.

That said, ask away. Any rational male should know the system before he joins it.
