Why You Should Beware of Praise at Work

Not an interesting article at all or anything related to "becoming a man". Seems like a weird thing to write an article on to begin with because you don't control how other people praise you.

The author seems to completely ignore the cooperative aspect of jobs. He may also just be projecting his anti-cooperative, hyper-competitive attitude on his other colleagues. There's nothing good about being hyper-competitive to the point where it's counter to the goals of your organization.

If you're making covert moves to move up a masculine dominance hierarchy, its only a matter of time until you get found out. A dominance hierarchy that does not weed out those that are working counter to the overarching value of the group is considered corrupt. If everyone worked like that, the organization would fail.

Having high expectations put on you as a man is a good thing as far as I can see. The author acts like being compelled to constantly get better is a bad thing.
