I think what is important to remember is that Ariana Grande is a product, not an artist, or a role model. She isn’t a revolutionary, and she isn’t a feminist icon. She is a talented singer, I can’t deny that. It’s actually really sad that she became a pop star singing music written by 40 something year old men. The pop industry is equal to fast food, and is formulated to be the way that it is to appeal to a mass audience (she is the “French fries” of music, tasty and addictive, but contains no substance). It was 100% intentional to follow up her “girl power” songs with something that placates the outdated thinkers in her demographic (aka more listeners= more money). She isn’t the symbol of empowerment people make her out to be, she’s a business woman making money and is contractually obligated to sing these songs. Get 👏 better 👏 idols 👏
