Guys why does it feel like both this and the feminist view looks entirely alien to me? Are you all Americans here? I am Hungarian, married, and the whole thing just doesn't work like this. How to put it... our attitudes are not so selfish. We don't even care that much about sex. We care a lot about not being lonely. We care a lot about having someone to trust, to rely on. We care a lot about building a stable family. I don't game my wife, and I can't imagine she would leave me for the divorce money or for a sexier man because she values stability, loyalty, normalcy so much, just like I do.
Why do you guys have a totally different life experience? It is as if everybody, men and women in America would be hell bent on getting all the exciting stuff in life, lots of sex, money, and all. Not valuing the stability of the home "hearthfire" ?
I mean this hypergamy thing just didn't really come into consideration for us. Or none of the stuff either PUAs or feminists talk about. She had enough of living a shitty life working on ships, living on them, having short liaisons with sailors, she wanted the normal life, live in a city, in an apartment, have a reliable guy, the kind that comes home with flowers and the kind she can gladly cook for, and then later kids. I wanted the same thing, I hardly care about sex, but I care about having a lovely person hug me when I come home from work. The whole sex, sex, sex is just not playing such a huge role.
Maybe because we are over 30.

The divorce rate in Hungary is around 33%. Given how heavily men are discriminated against in divorce courts everywhere, getting married in Hungary is still playing Russian Roulette with two bullets in the chamber. It sounds like you played and won, congratulations, but some of us don't like those odds.

You'd think that, but you'd be wrong. Women file for divorce in 70% of divorces, and given that the divorce rate is ~50% in the US, women filing divorce end over a third of all marriages in this country.

More recently, having spoken with academics and National Survey of Family Growth representatives, PolitiFact.com estimated in 2012 that the lifelong probability of a marriage ending in divorce is 40%–50%.
Women are the ones to initiate at least two thirds of divorces and this doesn't count divorces where the wife's shitty behavior pushes the man to file, like his wife cheating on him.

I find it unlikely - men who cheat on women are more attractive to women, so that would probably just increase the wife's motivation to mark her territory, not kick the man out.

Devlin was really a pioneer in writing about these issues with the kind of non-selfcensored honesty he did.
Because the OP deleted the link, here are links to what I'd consider required Devlin reading:
Sexual Utopia In Power
Rotating Polyandry—and its Enforcers
The Feminine Sexual Counter-Revolution and its Limitations

Titles like Get Rid of Him and Ditch That Jerk are found side-by-side Men Who Can’t Love: How to Spot a Commitmentphobic Man. In short, I demand loyalty from you, but you have no right to expect it of me. Many women seem sincerely unable to sense a contradiction here. Perhaps, as Schopenhauer thought, the female is not naturally provided with a sense of justice. Justice, is, after all, a virtue of leaders; it is of little use in nurturing children.
Great read, thanks for linking.

Great quote. And very true. Justice or equality is not something women are known for. Look at the feminist movement where they seek only the benefits of rights and not the responsibilities. Justice? No. Just selfish narcissim which our political leaders have allowed to erode society.

I was not aware of it. Thank you very much. There is a lot of wisdom in there.
However that may be, the modern woman clearly wants the benefits of a traditional marriage, but is unwilling to pay the costs; she wants a man to marry her without her having to marry the man. It is the eternal dream of irresponsible freedom: In the feminist formulation, freedom for women, responsibility for men.
