Take the contract with more money but don't change your current lifestyle/expenses. Save and invest the difference. If you're 21 and start a solid investment portfolio at this age the compounding returns could make you very well off later in life. Couldn't do yourself a better favour.

The answer to this question is age and responsibility dependent. I would choose option 2, the 2 year contract + travel. I'm 31, not married, no kids with very little fix location dependency. However, reverse a few of those factors and add a decade and I would possibly opt for option 1. Even then, 3x money is almost a no brainer time/value wise.

If you’re young (20-30) then definitely do it. This is the time were you can take the most risk.

See if original company will match.... i.e. how valued are you really?

If not, you NEED to take the other job.

Well if you're well respected in your current company you could try and find out if they would hire you back after your contract expires. also im sure after two years of that contract you couldnt possibly have trouble finding another job, even if it pays less, the only way to go is up

Of course, take it! You will have earned what you would have in six years. If you invest the money wisely you will be at least 10 years financially ahead.

After two years there you will have even more experience, so it‘s even more likely you will get an even better offer next time around.

See if you can up your pay st your current job, if not I'd take the new job. 2 years is a long time to sort out another job before your contact ends

3x the money, take it. You’ll gain a ton more experience and land a great job paying way more than you are now when you finish that contract.

Look at it as doing the same work but for 3 years pay lol. A very fast leap ahead and that new company and experience with travel will look much better on your resume.

I would say do it, get all the experience while your young and can take risks and then when you're finished you'll have a lot of money saved up as a safety net and try to get another job when the contract is over if they don't renew it. During that time, network heavily so you can make contacts and maybe they can help find a new job as well.

3 times the money, for 2 years is 6 years of your present salary, (assuming that you present company doesn't give you raises). That's long term enough.

In 6 years, the world will be so different that you don't even know if you present employer will exist.

It is estimated that AI will take at least half of jobs, on this decade. It is less risky to take the money early.
