Genuine question from a girl. I’m 5’11 barefoot, and any kind of footwear puts me over the 6’0 mark. I ask about height now because I’ve had so many guys get all weird about how tall I am when we meet in person. (And honestly, I feel so ugly and manly when I tower over someone, and my self confidence can’t always handle all the jokes that get made about the height difference.)
Is there ever a valid reason to ask about height? Or is it always a jerk thing to do?
So many women get all weird about how tall we are.
Is it always a jerk move? No. But when the chick seems to base her attraction on height alone, as if nothing else matters, when she herself is not especially tall, you have to admit that is a little... dumb-looking? Especially when she seems to think her weight is a rude topic which should never be remarked upon. I don’t think this is rocket science.
I think it’s a maturity thing tbh - when height is the only qualifier a woman has. When I was younger, I cared so much about being the shorter one in a relationship that height was very high up on my list of needs.
Now that I’m older, I’ve realized a guy’s height ultimately only helps my own self confidence in being a tall girl. But it’s not at all a thing that makes someone a good partner.
It’s probably a bigger issue than this post, but it explains a lot of the posts I see in this sub - women who are still immature and value the wrong things in a partner due to valuing the wrong things in themselves and ultimately in life.
It’s not just height; you’re right, it is a bigger issue. The kind of car a man drives seems to matter way more than it should, for instance.
Men mainly don’t care what kind of car you drive. They really don’t, 99% of the time. It’s irrelevant to their attraction. Even a man who really really loves cars isn’t attracted to his girlfriend solely based upon what car she drives. So when a woman demands that her future man has to drive a certain kind of car to get her attention, it looks to men as if she has a certain kind of brain poisoning.
Honestly - I think any kind of non-character-based demands* while dating are brain poisoning in general.
(*Demands that are silly, I mean. Wanting someone who is gainfully employed is much different from wanting someone who drives an AMG or something. I’d apply that to guys as well. I had a friend who said (completely seriously) he’d only consider marrying women who weighed under 100 lbs. It was such a ludicrous requirement for a wife (especially because he legit was at least 50 lbs overweight). Wanting someone who is a healthy weight is one thing. But an arbitrary number or requirement is a sign of immaturity in both men and women, IMO)
