Can identify with this guy. Same thing happened to me. Got divorced in Florida because wife was sleeping with her 36 year old co-worker (she was 22). She moved out in the middle of the night to some random dude's house and left me with the baby. Didn't hear from her for a few months and then when court date came up to finalize divorce, she contested and the judge gave her my son, 2800 dollars per month (I was only making 3600 per month after taxes), plus I had to pay for medical and life for my son, and she was going to get half my pension if I retired from the company I worked for. Was only married for 2 years.

Tried my best to be the "good dad" and paid and was early to every visit I got. Eventually, she quit letting me see my son and I took her back to court twice just to get her a good "talking to" by the judge. Yeah, that sure did punish her. After thousands of legal fees, license suspended because I couldn't pay the child support, no visitation with my son, and two nights in jail for failure to pay child support....I said fuck it. I moved across the country because I found out that Florida cannot enforce child support outside the state, change over my DL to my new state, and never looked back.

Best decision of my life. Sucks that I can't see my son but he will get older and I will see him again.

And at 4000 a month? Yikes. How much do you think that guy needed to gross a month (remember - he gave her the house)? If he lived frugally, he still would probably need about 6500 to 7000 a month (4000 for the leech, 1500 for rent, 1000 for car, gas, food, hydro, water, etc). Thats 84k net, which means he probably would be needing to make 125k a year based on the tax rate.

She paid $175,000 for a house worth $1.2m with $600,000 equity in it. The house contained a rental unit which provided approximately $2,000/month. He paid her $2,235/month in child support and she received $2,500 from the government for assistance for her children.

Not because I want these things to happen, but because you don't get to choose how someone reacts when you try to enslave them. Slavery is morally abhorrent. When men enslaved Africans en masse, could anyone really be surprised that some slaves killed themselves, some ran away, some poisoned their masters if they could, others killed their overseers in the fields, some formed huge rebellions that seized arms and hunted down whites at random. Some burned down their master's house. Some just didn't work very hard for their masters.

The authorities cleaned it up the very next day. No memorial. No flowers or candles. Like the guy didn't even exist. He killed himself in one of the most horrible ways possible and it was swept under the rug like if a slave hung himself in the corner of the plantation. Don't like your situation, slave? Go to the afterlife, you are nothing. Other men run away from the plantation to avoid alimony, financial slavery. Other men accept prison sentences. We get that down here too. In Wisconsin, if you cannot afford your payments for any reason, and "rent and food" is not seen as legitimate expenses, you can and will go to jail for 6 months. Interest on back payments is around 10% of the amount due.
