In fact you can, if you can turn around the shipment fast enough. The profit margin has to be there too. Then as you build sales you can start doing some analytics to identify demand over time, pricing matrixes, and stocking some of your own inventory. Drop shipping is not a bad concept, per se. It's a low cost startup option, but you have to be willing to invest at some point.

For instance, a lady in the neighborhood is a scentsy rep. 9/10 you see a scentsy rep and think you order now and pay later. Not her. She already has the lockdown on inventory. She hosts tables at events and festivals, markets, etc.... with inventory on hand to sell. I was curious and asked how the fuck she makes so much money on this stuff. She is not buying a cadillac yet, but if she continues at her pace, she will. Apparently she used her excel skills and an inventory management book to do it. She calculates demand based on past sales, and orders a small depth and wide variety of inventory for new items. As they sell she carries more stock. When they stop selling she told me sells them at cost just to clear them.

I guess some people just naturally know that money is made on the turn of inventory, not the gp %.
