Be sure to figure out some non-PO box address. Things like banking are very difficult without being able to claim some actual location. The easiest way to handle it is to use something like the UPS store, which is pretty much exactly the same as a PO box, but it is considered a street address.

I'm 47. I have been RV living for 3 years in a Grand Design Imagine RB2600. My father and stepmother have been doing it for 5 years. No regrets.

I doubt i could do this full time, maybe part time.

Depending on your area it's not that hard to find an older house or decent condo. I think I paid 70k for my condo with cash and it's still in a good neighborhood.

This seems to be mostly a trend in overpriced areas like the bay areas

i've been flirting with the idea of severely downsizing.. bought my house a little over 8 years ago when the housing market was at its bottom. got a 1500sqft (144 m2) 3-bdr house on a decent lot with RV parking for $126k USD.. i was 31, not sure if i wanted to start a family. fast forward 8 years and the house is now worth 300k, the guest bedroom never gets used, my "office room" is just a computer and a bunch of musical equipment that i never use anymore. have taken a grand total of 3 showers EVER in my guest bathroom shower, and the living room never gets used.

thinking of this because i am not in nor do i want a LTR / live-in chick. i have no kids, and my entire family is deceased with the exception of my sister.. after my dad died i vowed to "stay put" but now that its been 8 years and i am starting to view this house as overkill that is too expensive to maintain, it might be time to close this chapter of the story and move on to the next one.

downsizing to one of those tiny houses has been on my radar for a bit but they are generally frowned upon by municipalities (too much freedom? / inability to impose property taxes on them).. i could sell my house, my excess crap, spend 40-70 on a really nice brand new tiny house and bank over $200k, cut my "operational" bills by 80% and still live comfortably, albeit in a much smaller and more heavily / efficiently utilized space.
