Here’s why my child support went up when my income stayed level at 85k and her income went up to 70K.

EDIT: NYS, Long Island and yes I had a lawyer. It’s just like this here.

Such an absolute load of crap. Since her income went up, I get to pay no alimony. Yay! Since the alimony is gone because her income went up, the alimony I paid her is now my income. Since I now have this income available, I pay more in child support. Since I don’t have the alimony tax deduction, I pay more in taxes and my paycheck is less overall.

I have my child exactly 50% of the time. She provides nothing that I don’t also have to provide, yet the time I spend with my kid is not considered at all in the child support modification request????? The response literally quotes case law, the time I spend with my kid CAN not be considered. She doesn’t even have to provide clothes for when our child is with me. Why? Transporting a full wardrobe back and forth is impractical. Why would a full wardrobe have to be transported back and forth? Well, because my child lives with me 50% of the time. So I should buy a full wardrobe too, right? Well, after rent and only rent I have exactly $500 of disposable income. What a fucking joke this system is.

Who the hell made these laws? She earns more money than me with child support and I have our kid the exact same amount of time as her!!!

This is literally driving me into the gutter. I live in an expensive area, it’s not possible to survive and support a child like this.
