A Kitchener woman wasn’t going to take no for an answer at the U.S.-Canada border.

Cops say Tianna Natasha McPherson, 40, has been charged with slapping a U.S. Border Patrol officer at the Rainbow Bridge in Niagara Falls last weekend.

McPherson was also charged with resisting or impeding an officer of the United States.

According to the U.S. Attorney’s office, McPherson was dropped off at the Rainbow Bridge by a cab. She told officers she intended to visit Niagara Falls State Park.

However, McPherson was then referred to a secondary inspection where her attempts to visit the U.S. were kiboshed by border brass.

“At that point, the defendant became verbally combative and uncooperative, indicating she did not want to go back to Canada, and stating that she was an American citizen,” a press release said, adding she was not able to provide the information required to back her claim.

She then insisted she wanted to go before an American judge. McPherson then allegedly grabbed her luggage and walked towards the exit where an officer told her she couldn’t leave.

“What if I punch you in the face?” she allegedly replied.

McPherson reportedly told the officer she wanted to be charged criminally, then open-hand slapped her on the left side of the face.

She was restrained and taken to a holding cell. She made an initial appearance in federal court on Friday and is scheduled for a detention hearing on Sept. 13.

If convicted, she faces up to eight years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
