Why you should say NO to most things

One of my favorite quotes is by Seneca the Stoic philosopher

“In guarding their fortune men are often closefisted, yet, when it comes to the matter of wasting time, in the case of the one thing in which it is right to be miserly, they show themselves most prodigal.”

Basically, what the he is saying is that when it comes to money, we are often cautious.

You wouldn’t give a stranger $20 just because they asked you for it, would you?

Fuck that! I wouldn’t, that’s KFC money baby.

Yet, you prostitute your time to anyone that asks for it.

It’s time you start valuing your time a little more.

THAT SHIT IS LITERALLY YOUR LIFE

This first step in respecting your time, and in turn respecting your life is learning to say NO.

You have to say ‘NO’ to most things, and ‘FUCK NO’ to a few.

When someone tries to stop you on the street to convince you to sign up for some bullshit you know you are not going to sign up for, Say NO.

It’s not rude, why are they begging for your precious time without permission anyway? You wouldn’t let someone jab their fat greasy fingers into your pocket, would you? This is the same thing.

When a friend asks to hang out, but you have already made other plans.

Say NO, offer a reschedule. You don’t owe anyone shit, friend or foe.

When your Boss asks you if you can stay back for the fifth shift in a row, say

“No bitch, I got shit to do!”

Okay, maybe don’t say that one. You will most likely get fired.

Be professional and tell him/her that you have other commitments and can’t adhere to their schedule.

Once again, you don’t owe anyone your extra time.

You live and then eventually you die. That’s the way it goes.

So, in the meantime, whilst you are still alive.

Guard your time by learning to say NO.

The repercussions of saying NO

When you say NO to most things, you, in turn, free up your time for more important things.

It’s like a breath of fresh air…. Uhhhhhhhhhhh, take in that beautiful prana

Smells better than the dogshit of bending your will to everyone else’s schedule.

Freeing up your time is the first element that is needed for living life on your own terms.

Not everyone will like you for it, but that’s alright. You aren’t here to please everybody, you aren’t here to be a footing stool. You are here to accomplish shit, to actualize your potential as a human being and leave your impact.

No is now your personal mantra, it’s your maxim. It’s your national anthem.

In Game of Thrones house Stark is known for saying “winter is coming”, legendary words of their house.

Your house words are “No, fuck off”
