Former U.S. Open champion golfer Lucas Glover was allegedly attacked by his wife after playing badly in this weekend's Players Championship near St. Augustine, Fla., DailyMail.com can reveal.

Krista Glover, 36, was arrested by St. Johns County Sheriff's deputies late Saturday in a house the couple had rented during the tournament at Sawgrass TPC in Ponte Vedra Beach.

She was charged with domestic battery and resisting arrest. If found guilty, she could face up to one year in jail on each misdemeanor count.

According to the incident report, Lucas Glover tried to ensure that deputies wouldn't arrest his wife of six years by changing his witness statement.

But because he and his mother suffered visible but minor injuries in the altercation, Krista Glover was taken to the local jail in handcuffs.

The incident report shows Lucas told deputies Krista gets violent every time he doesn't play well in a major PGA tournament.

And since he had a bad day alongside Tiger Woods, Dustin Johnson and Justin Rose at The Players, she allegedly went off on him at dinner time and showered him with insults, including 'p***y' and 'loser,' the incident report reads.

The attack was in front of their two underage children and Lucas' mother, according to deputies.

Lucas told deputies how 'when he plays a bad round of golf, Krista proceeds to start an altercation with him and telling him how he is a loser and a p***y, how he needs to fire everyone, and how he'd better win or her and the kids would leave him and he would never see the kids again,' the report reads.

At Sawgrass TPC, Glover started the tournament well on Thursday, finishing just two strokes behind the leaders.

He started losing ground Friday and Saturday and did not play on Sunday. He was listed on the final leaderboard as 'MDF,' meaning he made the cuts but didn't finish.

Saturday night, however, Lucas allegedly told deputies he was tired of all the altercations with his wife and couldn't take it anymore. At the same time, he tried to dissuade deputies from arresting Krista and claimed there was no physical altercation.

The 38-year-old golfer, best known for his 2009 win at the U.S. Open and the 2011 Wells Fargo Open, did tell authorities that his wife had been drinking all day.

Deputies noted in their reports there were fresh lacerations to Lucas' right arm and 'multiple lacerations' to both his 62-year-old mother Hershey Glover's arms as well as blood on her clothes. The deputies photographed the injuries.

Neither Lucas nor his mom asked to be treated by paramedics.

According to the police report, someone in the house called 911 to report 'a disturbance' shortly before 8.30pm

When deputies arrived, they allegedly found Krista and Lucas arguing on the porch.

Krista walked up to them and claimed she was attacked by her mother-in-law during an argument with her husband.

Krista, the report noted, had no visible injuries.

When Lucas's mother was interviewed, she told deputies she tried to stop a loud argument between husband and wife over the golfer's performance, but Krista turned against her and hit her repeatedly.

Lucas was allegedly injured to his arm when he stepped between his wife and his mother.

The drama, however, didn't stop once Krista was handcuffed.

The deputies wrote in their report she resisted them and refused to get into the back seat of a squad car by trying 'to tense her body and blocking herself from sitting down in the car.'

She allegedly tried to wrap her legs and feet around the frame of the open car door, but several deputies pulled and pushed until she got in.

Once inside, Krista allegedly damaged the car by kicking the door.

At one point during the transport to jail, two deputies tried to loosen her handcuffs and she tried to get away. It took both lawmen to re-handcuff her.

'Wait till the tour (PGA) hears about this,' she yelled, according to the report. 'You will lose your job. This is why cops get shot in the face. Wait till I talk with the judge, you will be f***ng fired over this.'

When reached on her cellphone this afternoon, Krista hung up abruptly when asked for comment. Lucas didn't return a call for comment left on his cellphone.

When they left the house, deputies handed Lucas a pamphlet about the dangers of domestic violence and another spelling out victims' rights.

Krista was released Sunday on $2,500-bond. She has a date with the judge May 31.

The golf star took to Twitter this afternoon to address the incident saying: 'On May 12, my wife and mother were involved in an argument to which the police were called. Everyone is fine. Regrettably, although Krista was charged, we are comfortable that the judicial system is able to address what actually happened and Krista will be cleared in this private matter. We thank you for respecting our privacy as we work through this unfortunate situation.'

A former Clemson University golf star, Lucas Glover has been on the tour since 2001. Since then, he has made $20.1 million in prize money.

He and Krista live in Jupiter, Fla., and were married in 2012. They have a six-year-old girl and a three-year-old boy. He was previously married to high-school sweetheart Jennifer Smith.
