I was with this girl for 4 years and she had an abortion against my wishes. I stayed with her for a year after the abortion like a dumb shit and she ended up pregnant again right before we broke up. She decided to keep this one because we were broken up and she hid the pregnancy. I had just got into the laborers union and she was looking at this like a meal ticket. She worked me for child support for 2 years while she collected welfare for her other kid. I eventually collected enough evidence to have a solid case for full custody and gave her an ultimatum. Either we split custody and zero child support on my end or I destroy her in court. I never wanted to keep my son from her but as soon as she realized that her free ride was over she showed up with all my son's stuff and gave him to me. I've been a single dad for 7 years and I honestly can't complain. My son and I are best friends and I'm stable enough to give him an awesome lifestyle.

It's because the dads hardly ever actually fight for custody. When they do, they win just over 50% of the time. At least in America. I don't know what happens in Sweden.

Actually, there are some interesting studies that show that when dads do go to court to petition for full custody, they're more likely to get it than the moms. The problem is just that most dads never petition for full custody.

The problem is that if it isn't the father paying for the kid then it's ALL men in the form of welfare and benefits coming straight from taxes.

I just wrote a paper about this for my English 102 paper. It focused on every argument for abortion and then attempted to show how the same logic could be applied to this. Only issue with this that I came up with is that children need money for food and clothing, but the money that men pay is not even based on that need which was the only argument I could come up refuting it.

Unwanted pregnancies will "magically" be reduced if this ever passes.

The interesting thing is how some of the people against the idea are treating it like the fetus is already a person. Abortion is not murder because the fetus is NOT a person. They can't have it both ways....

It was here before and I will repeat my comment: TERRIBLE idea when combined with welfare state.

ALL the women will have ALL the children with Chads and then welfare-cuck 95% of men by taxes.

You will not be Chad. Women given such freedom and Chads having no fear of child support will turn 20-80 ratio into 5-95, where only genetic lottery winners have babies. Game and exercise is ok to get into 20%, but at the top level there will be only tall, naturally muscular men with strong jaws, not some wannabe TRPers.

The only solution would be if a women choses to be a single mother she'd forgo any future benefits for the child. Not going to happen.

...but I wanted to make a comment on the issue of child responsibility.

Here's the ideal:

When a child is born any man may choose to assign his name as the father.
A man has free will to decide if he will associate his name with a child.
Once the man agrees to be the father he gains certain "rights" to being a parent such as having access.
A man who does not assign his name to a child gives away all rights to access.
Without the assignment of a man to a child there are no obligations by a man towards support.
If a man chooses to revoke his status as father he may do so, but he loses all access.

I'll probably get downvoted to hell for this, but society in general, both men and women, need to abandon this silliness that consequence-free sex is a basic human right. Even completely ignoring psychological considerations, you still have pregnancy and STDs to worry about.

Actions have consequences. If you're not willing to risk the consequence, don't take the action. Believe it or not, you CAN survive without sex. Just ask most of Reddit ;).

I am against this but simply because I am also against voluntary abortion. In my country they are allowed for medical reasons but having so many cynical/corrupt doctors almost everybody gets to have one (we are in the top 10 for abortion rates in the world).

But having said that in the current system this is the only logical thing to do:If a woman can decide to abort it during pregnancy , a man should be able to decide to financially absolve from it during pregnancy. As simple as that. You cant have the child both be "not a human enough for rights" and just "human enough for rights in case it gets born".

This is stupid to me. Abortions are a woman's decision. I'm fine knowing I can't make a decision to abort my child. I can try to influence a woman to abort if I feel strongly about it, but if the baby is to be born, that's my child and I'm not going to "abort" responsibility like a woman. Just seems real ugly to me.

Male birth control sounds great, but it will only be used by middle class white guys. It's also likely that a guy who doesn't take it will be held liable for endangering women with exposure to pregnancy risk.

Who knows, maybe the rest of society will become subject to the same restrictions as porn performers, with a "sex license," which they have to get validated as being tested every few weeks. Part of that license will state whether the guy is using contraceptives or not. Could see this happening on campuses.
