Take it from someone who went searching through the occult looking for answers for a long time (theosophy, thelema, freemasonry) put your energy into the arts and sciences. If you have that predisposition towards euphoria/drealisation/depersonalisation then look into zen. I found about 99% of stuff to be bunk and very little will give you the answers your seeking. Not saying its not out there, jist that most of it is rubbish.

In terms of your main question, at least if you pour yourself into the sciences then you may contribute to the body of knowledge.

I went to St James of Compostella a few years ago (starting from France to the end of Spain). 1000 miles. That clears the mind and puts things in context (and is cheap! :-) ).

Then you'll know the reason for living is... living. And that you need next to nothing to be happy. Then you tend to forget. But it never leaves you.

I don't think any group that claims they have a secret and hides it from everyone. . Really doesnt have anything of worth to share anyways.

The only people with the answer were men who sat down with them selves for a long time away from everyone else and discovered the secret. And they didn't hesitate to Share it.

A guru will just look at you and laugh and say.. " I have nothing to teach nothing special about me." They usually reach states of enlightenment and realize it's nothing special. They don't know what's beyond life per say. But they don't have a problem with what ever It can be. Aka no problem with dying

I work, party occasionally but mostly save money for my trips to Thailand to fuck girls and save for early retirement.

I'll probably open up a restaurant in Thailand when i have enough money, and enjoy living in a part of the world where a man of means can have any number of casual sexual encounters he wishes at a moments notice. I may even splurge for a Buddha wedding if i meet someone i really like. Not like it's legally binding anyway. lol.
