On The Takeaway the last segment interviewed Eric Klinenberg, the author of Going Solo: The Extraordinary Rise and Surprising Appeal of Living Alone. (2013, Penguin.)

Some of this dealt with George Bell, who was found dead in Queens when his neighbors smelled decomposition. This led to a discussion that was about dying alone as much as living alone.

Kleinenberg was having none of that. He spoke repeatedly about projection, and said "I don't know what we can conclude except that we should be cautious to not put our selves, and our own opinions and views into the situation because people prefer to live in different kinds of ways. I think we should focus on how the person lived and not just the death."

Some stats were given. In 1950, less than 10% of Americans lived alone. Now more than 30% do, with more than 50% being unmarried.

The host also spoke of the difference between being lonely, and just being alone - a thought echoed by several callers.

MGTOW as such did not come up at all, although callers of both sexes expressed an appreciation of their freedom.
