I’m a 22 year old woman, and I’m seeing a lot in this sub about how women are considered much more desirable in their 20’s versus any other time in their lives, and that men will usually ditch older women for their younger, beautiful counterparts once said first woman ages enough. My question is, if my beauty is only going to be a real asset to me for the next 7-9 years or so, what’s the point in even focusing on my physical beauty? Why wouldn’t I spend my time doing activities that make me happy, pursuing hobbies and skills that won’t corrode with time, and fostering mutually generous and loving familial, platonic, and romantic relationships based on trust, personality, and care, rather than aesthetics? I suppose I could spend my time getting skinny, perfecting the “natural” makeup look and shaving every part of my body, but why would I spend time on that when it’s not gonna matter in 10 years and I could instead learn to play the ukulele beautifully (which I’m doing, slowly but surely) and be able to retain that skill and create something beautiful as long as I live, not just until I hit 30?
