Background: met a guy on hinge, turns out he’s military, then he got deployed before we could meet

So two months later & he and I are still talking! I like to call this period of our lives LDD for Long Distance Dating. Our primary form of communication is email, although he tries to call me everyday and when he’s on shore, we FaceTime.

We go back and forth coming up with questions for each other, like family expectations, finances, and hobbies. We see eye to eye on so many subjects, and for the topics we disagree on, we just end up learning so much more about each other. We had a long debate over Beatles vs a Rolling Stones and he ended up converting me lol.

We’ve both talked to our family about the situation, and surprisingly have received support on both sides. In the beginning there was a lot of “be careful” advice, but they’ve gotten to hear him on the phone or say hi via FaceTime so they too know he’s real. The general vibe has turned into “he seems like a good fit” — “just marry your Military guy already” — but remember “don’t put all your eggs in one basket”

I’ve remained on the market, and have gone on a few dates here and there. He knows I’m dating, and he sort of does/sort of doesn’t support it. Of course, we’d like the security of commitment, but logically, without that in person meeting, neither one of us wants to go full 100%.

Looks like we have 6 more months to go, but we’re already 1/4 of the way through this & are still very excited to meet each other.

Fingers crossed!
