As a female leaving feminism,

Reddit View
July 8, 2020

i've noticed quite a few things as I have personally began to stray away from feminism. When in feminist communities I was always put down by other women for not being 100%, and I was made fun of by men. It made me realize that feminism isn't the best belief.

Now that i'm starting to get involved in anti feminism, I haven't received that from people in this community.

I just thought that it was interesting to point out :) It helps me realize that moving away from feminism is a good decision.

We are glad to have you. Welcome. I left feminism about a year ago.

Modern feminism is no longer about equality, it's about women becoming superior to men. Feminism is something I agree with (equal rights, equal pay, yada yada yada), but it's taken a turn towards extremism.

Hi, that's awesome! You have a friend here (former male feminist in my 20s).

It's crazy how they can't be woke enough, or feminist enough, or _________ enough. The progressive mindset is usually looking to push the boundary, not the cause. Just IMO.

Congratulations to having your mind and freedom back ๐ŸŽ‰๐ŸŽŠ๐ŸŽ‰

[โ€“]Moldy_Gecko4 points5 points  (0 children) | Copy

It's typically that they aren't woke or feminist enough, etc. It's like you and I were, male feminists in our 20s... then you grow up and really get "woke" to life and reality. So, every new college class, there is a whole group of new 18-20 somethings that get fake "Woke" for a while until they end up like us eventually. It's a growth, maturity, and life experience thing. All kids are idealists until they realize that sometimes things are working right, working counter to what I think, or just don't matter. And then you either fight back against it lazily (like we're doing posting about it on reddit) or you just forget about it. Which is why it always looks like there are more feminists than there aren't. The reality is that most people just grow up, drop feminism, and then never think about it again. Then there are those of us that just talk about feminism and how shit it is, but really do nothing to stop it except circlejerk ourselves about how bad feminism is.

Feminism is about female empowerment, but the end result is that they view women as weak and incapable, i hate that. Women are strong and just as capable as men. They say such toxic things as "you could never have done that without feminism" it robs women of their own accomplishments that is downright evil if you ask me.

The worst men there is are the feminist men, they honestly believe that women owe them something for being such a good little ally. No women dont owe you anything.

[โ€“]Dean_Clean1 point2 points  (0 children) | Copy

Wait...they really say "you could not have done that without feminism."? Holy shit. That's some self aggrandizing bullshit. Like, you can't succeed without feminism but you can't truly succeed with feminism? That is some indoctrination.

this really was a good decision were glad to have you on our side

[โ€“]mrkeifer866 points7 points  (0 children) | Copy

As a man I grew up with 9 sisters and a mom. So of course i want to see them succeed.

They were feminists. Keyword being "were". The day they stopped is when one of my mom's close friends commented how it was a good thing I was raped when I was 8 by a female so men can understand what it's like to be a female. (This women who made that comment was never raped).

Feminism I learned was about women's rights. My mom says it best. Feminism now and since the early 70s has changed to what they can take away from men and don't get her started on the whole kill all men hashtag.

Wait until you realise the same thing is true in politics.

The Left constantly applies purity tests and demands 100% compliance, or else you get attacked and ostracised. If you mention to anyone on the Left that you're now antifeminist... whoo boy!

The Right will see you as an individual and accept you as you are, even if they don't agree with you on every issue.

Check out Dr Karlyn Borysenko. She went through the experience of breaking out of her Left/feminist echo chamber and started talking to people on the right. Have a read about her experiences, you'll probably find it interesting.

When women like yourself begin speaking rationally you get a lot of respect from me. I would love to see more posts like this. IMO, women are more vocal then men & have more power to sway social opinions.

[โ€“]FuAsMy2 points3 points  (1 child) | Copy

Good on you...

The narrative of equality between the sexes is absolutely necessary. But feminism has largely been hijacked by a whole bunch of other interests... and now its just turned into big business and an opportunity to virtue signal. Some of the lines of argument being pushed by self described 'feminists' are just utterly ridiculous.

[โ€“]not_of_this_world10 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy

Itโ€™s not necessary. If it was no country would have lasted.

Making members feel worthless is a standard practice in cults, especially when they are losing influence. It's an attempt to keep members by making them dependent on the cult for self worth.

[โ€“]Dean_Clean1 point2 points  (0 children) | Copy

Bingo! It's manipulative and abusive.

[โ€“]TiredExFeminist1 point2 points  (0 children) | Copy

Alot of the hate you're getting on this post are trolls on sock puppet accounts from fems. Just wanna throw that out here.

Welcome! I left about 3 or 4 years ago. I had a lot of problems with being expected to think the same way as every other woman, even on issues where I disagreed with them. The only reason I made it that long was because I was very young and scared of having people hate me.

[โ€“]Moldy_Gecko0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy

I wouldn't take people's acceptance of what you say as to whether something is right or not... Or it will still create a confirmation bias. I'm glad you feel more welcome here, and personally, I think our little community is the right one, but just remember critical thinking, listening, and thinking about what you say are always more important than what people say. It's essentially what drove a lot of us from feminism because they rarely do any of those 3 things.

[โ€“]mhandanna0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy

Welcome. I was a feminist for four years until I finally realised I was in religious hate filled cult that was anti science, anti facts, and hateful

[โ€“]empatheticapathetic0 points1 point  (10 children) | Copy

So you left feminism because of how you were treated and not because it is a fascist ideology against men? And what, you want praise for this?

Even in your post you couldn't pretend to give a shit about the welfare of men, but just on how you were treated.

[โ€“]Moldy_Gecko0 points1 point  (7 children) | Copy

Don't have to be so angry about it. That doesn't give you or the community a better image. I pretty much said the same thing you said without visible anger in your writing.

[โ€“]empatheticapathetic0 points1 point  (6 children) | Copy

Who's angry? And why does that matter? Let's focus on the question.

[โ€“]Moldy_Gecko0 points1 point  (5 children) | Copy

Because you're just feeding the stereotype that we're all just angry men that are upset about whatever leftists want to say we're upset about. I'd suggest reading 48 rules of power. And I don't know if you're actually angry, but the tone of your text comes across that way. The question, however, isn't really important... it's rhetorical. And while it comes across that she came here because of how she was treated, I'm sure the fascist ideology that drove her away played a larger part.

And, this isn't MRA, this is anti-feminist. We shouldn't give a fuck if she gives a fuck about men or not... I barely give a fuck about men and I am one, but I really do not like feminists or feminism. Give people advice, tell them to think critically and think for themselves... not bash them with "You don't give a fuck about me.... grrrr... I don't like you..."

[โ€“]empatheticapathetic0 points1 point  (4 children) | Copy

Who gives a fuck about the stereotype. Do you think feminists give a fuck about their stereotype? They literally exist to bully people to get power and donโ€™t care how many perish in the process. Imagine worrying about the Fucking stereotype.

Iโ€™m sure the fascist ideology played a large part

So why didnโ€™t she say that? She can speak for herself bro. But no, instead her reasoning was all about her treatment. No reference to the welfare and treatment of men in society. Not even an anecdote about seeing her brother/father/sons life get ruined by a feminist and she suddenly developed some empathy towards men.

This isnโ€™t MRA, this is anti feminist

What is the only thing feminists target and blame for 100% of their problems? Men. To be anti feminist means you have developed empathy for men and you have realised (or simply decided your life is better optimised towards the fact that) feminism is a bad force in society. What other possible reason would someone become anti feminist?

You have zero reasoning to simp over this woman. Just because she walked into this sub and barely strung together some words critical of feminism doesnโ€™t mean we should all give her instant praise. How little do you respect yourself or the men who have lost their livelihoods to feminism? She canโ€™t even be bothered to attempt to give a relevant reason.

If the post was highlighting a specific part of feminism or a specific experience then maybe I would be more accommodating. But no sheโ€™s just here for brownie points until she gives me a reason. Sheโ€™s just realised she has a whole army of simps ready to validate her just because she can say the words โ€œfeminism badโ€.

[โ€“]Moldy_Gecko0 points1 point  (3 children) | Copy

I'm not even here defending her... I agree with you... But you're exactly what's wrong. I strongly recommend 48 laws of power... it'll probably help.

[โ€“]empatheticapathetic0 points1 point  (2 children) | Copy

Ok. I understand your point about being more subtle in delivery to achieve an actual conversion. This is just an online extension of my personality bro. I donโ€™t do this in real life where such subtly actually matters. But online I am able to freely call out shit like this. Itโ€™s a waste of time trying to be subtle, you have no idea who youโ€™re talking to or can gauge their agenda.

[โ€“]Moldy_Gecko0 points1 point  (1 child) | Copy

That's a great and valid point. Just, this whole feminist vs. antifeminist is pretty much all online. I'm just trying to change the conversation to a more amicable one.

[โ€“]empatheticapathetic0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy

It annoys me when everyone in this post is thanking her for making the smallest gesture towards them. All Iโ€™m doing is asking her a question and at the same time somewhat attempting to call out her obvious agenda of seeking easy validation before she jumps off into the nether. If a few guys see that question and it resonates then maybe theyโ€™ll think a bit harder about whatโ€™s going on next time. I donโ€™t see the benefit of being soft in a sea of soft gestures. A more biting comment will definitely stand out and perhaps cause her ego to indirectly reveal her true motivations.

[โ€“]NoxiousDiscord0 points1 point  (1 child) | Copy

It's not about men. Men aren't oppressed, and neither are women. If feminism treats women badly, that shows a lot about it. You sound exactly like a feminist.

[โ€“]empatheticapathetic0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy

Men aren't oppressed? Ok then. Are you a man?

EDIT: Funny, every other comment of yours is calling out feminists. I think you're confused.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
