They don't call it "Clown World" for nothing. The Comedian from Watchmen was correct, the promise of Justice is THE Joke.

Nightowl:”What happened to America?whats happened to the American dream? The comedian:”It came true, you’re looking at it”

It's called the american dream, because you have to be asleep to believe it. - George Carlin.

Fake story right? Judges cannot jail people for criticising them. Can they?

If so WHY can they.

Yes it is an insane law and should be removed.

No one should ever be allowed to be jailed for using words.

You've raised a VERY IMPORTANT topic. Thanks

Unless they do something like yell “Watch out it’s ISIS!” In a parade

[–]PrettyflyforWif129 points30 points  (1 child) | Copy

Holy shit! How can a country say "It has freedom of speech" but on the other hand can jail people for criticism

[–]SimpleQuantum14 points15 points  (0 children) | Copy

This fucked up place

[–]Freeze_Wolf4 points5 points  (0 children) | Copy

"That didn’t stop officials from charging Vanderhagen with malicious use of telecommunications services in July and letting him out on bond. But he continued to criticize Rancilio on social media after his release."

More info on charges

[–]AbstruseMurmurings1 point2 points  (0 children) | Copy

Jesus, it’s worse. That is a new charge...

The UK has no freedom of speech rights, neither does Australia. They like to pretend otherwise, but they’d best not pretend too loudly.

[–]qemist8 points9 points  (0 children) | Copy

No but an old one.

[–]rbecker26018 points19 points  (0 children) | Copy

Is it just me or when there is something addressing feminisms dark underbelly (which is huge) they just ignore it. I don’t think I’ve seen one big feminist say anything addressing their dark underbelly.

[–]BlinkOfDoom12 points13 points  (0 children) | Copy

Freedom of speech? Of course. Freedom after speech? We'll see about that.

[–]Rozycka1236 points7 points  (3 children) | Copy

How did he go to jail just for criticizing a judge?

[–]moria06 points7 points  (2 children) | Copy

contempt of court probably or some such bullshit. Judges do not put up with "disrespect"

[–]Doc-Engineer3 points4 points  (1 child) | Copy

"That didn’t stop officials from charging Vanderhagen with malicious use of telecommunications services in July and letting him out on bond. But he continued to criticize Rancilio on social media after his release."

The judge saw her name on his posts and reported it because she felt threatened. The police found there to be nothing threatening in the posts. They charged him anyways.

And a $500,000 bond for talking shit about a judge, even if it were the second time? Thats like a fucking murder bond, how in the hell is that considered reasonable punishment?

[–]Oceanfell2 points3 points  (0 children) | Copy

It was a woman who gave custody of a child to a woman? Hmm...

[–]moria01 point2 points  (0 children) | Copy

Yep. White guys - don't have kids, only the important people are allowed to do that.

[–]Umbrella821 point2 points  (0 children) | Copy

I thought America has free speech.....apparently not🤔

[–]Andieleaandie0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy

Just to clarify, I haven’t read very much into this, HOWEVER, the U.S. has freedom of speech, this man could not go to jail for criticizing a judge unless he was slandering or deliberately saying something untrue that would cost the judge their livelihood. With that said, it’s possible he was talking shit in the courtroom, he could have been held in contempt if he was persistently ignoring the judges orders to be quiet.
