Those poor Mole People women hiding underground. How terrible for them.

Does anyone actually believe that nonsense about the stats being skewed? Rough sleepers need food no matter what their sex. They will come to the food services just like the men. So the counts will be accurate.

[–]itsalexcl[S] 37 points38 points  (0 children) | Copy

And the fact that only the stats which favour feminist are somehow the representation of truth but are otherwise skewed.

[–]nacho-chonky12 points13 points  (0 children) | Copy

The thing is women actually have it easier as homeless because there is more resources available to them, so her reasoning for the stats being skewed makes zero sense since it would make it the other way around making the 75% men stat bigger

I mean, you have heard about the Indiana Mole Women, have you not?

Everytime I’m out for a stroll I like to skip rocks along the road. You would not believe the amount of homeless women who crawl out from the pebbles. The other day I picked up a pebble and saw an eye looking at me in terror. I put a dollar on the eye and gently placed the rock back. I hope it gets better for them.

Good sarcasm doesn’t need a /s

[–]TragicOptimistic3 points4 points  (8 children) | Copy

It was obvious that he was joking. Chill out man. People hate assholes like you. If you don't have enough brain cells to make sense of it in a realistic way it's probably a joke.

[–]itsalexcl[S] 2 points3 points  (7 children) | Copy

Sorry mate, English isn't my first language.....

[–]TragicOptimistic2 points3 points  (6 children) | Copy

You're not the first person who didn't understand English that has demanded this. And while I understand, you are in an English subreddit and you should not be demanding that we cater to you. You're not better than us because your English isn't good.

[–]itsalexcl[S] 2 points3 points  (5 children) | Copy

Again,Sorry dude.☹️

[–]TragicOptimistic2 points3 points  (4 children) | Copy

By demanding things you're making yourself look entitled rather than being on an equal playing field to us. Instead maybe ask "hey, I don't understand English well and that doesn't make sense, are you joking?" It sounds a lot more pleasant then making yourself seem entitled by demanding we use /s when most English speakers understand it's a joke. It's a good lesson to learn if you ever immigrate to the west. We don't like entitlement. You're fine though. 😊

Duly noted. Thanks for being polite friend. 😄

[–]TragicOptimistic3 points4 points  (0 children) | Copy

I just thought I would explain why I called you an asshole. I'm sorry for that. Misunderstanding. We do like you and want you here though 😊

[–]TragicOptimistic2 points3 points  (1 child) | Copy

I'm a bit blunt and it's not common for most girls but I say what I feel. But I'm usually pretty nice. I feel bad now lol 😭

[–]itsalexcl[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children) | Copy

Hey... Don't do that. As you said it was just a misunderstanding. Things like that happen with everybody. But I am grateful that this conversation turned out to be civil rather than toxic. 😀

because they hide underground

Nice excuse

[–]Deathbysugar202014 points15 points  (0 children) | Copy

Hide underground? What absolute bullshit. Do they dig holes or something? Or sleep in sewers?

If they have temporary shelter, they're safe for that period. No excuses. It only shows better conditions for women because of easier access to shelters.

She's more likely to help women? What's wrong with helping whoever needs it? Is this not sexism? If I say "I'm more likely to help men in need" that's not sexism?

Also, I'm sure that "skewed statistics" won't change the number by more than 25%.

[–]SlavNotDead8 points9 points  (0 children) | Copy

“I would not say it’s sexist BUT...”

Then fucking say it. I would not call it a duck, but it looks like a duck...

I am not surprised that they are afraid of calling things how they are because of their ideology, but it boggles my mind how they are completely oblivious to it.

You should have just told her that you want to speak to the "Man-in-charge".

I mean to be honest homeless people are living in survival situations and if possible you should help them no matter what their gender.

That being said, a homeless woman on the streets is at greater risk because chances are they are less physically able than their male peers. So in a situation where you can help only one, the women is the more vulnerable.

However in what kind of bogus theoretical situation can you only save one ??

[–]itsalexcl[S] 1 point2 points  (2 children) | Copy

Your argument is completely sound mate, but the fact is that women have access to shelters(exclusively). That's the point which makes her claim sexist.

[–]backwardrollypolly1 point2 points  (1 child) | Copy

As someone who used to volunteer at my local Salvation Army centre, we had separate times for men and women. However if a man came - as they occasionally did - they were not refused aid. This is in the UK and I’m not aware of things differ elsewhere or in different areas but if a man came during women’s queue, the kind of people that volunteer for these organisations are highly unlikely to be so discriminatory

[–]itsalexcl[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children) | Copy

That's good to hear. Thanks for your selfless service to the needy. 😊

[–]Colombian-mra-1 points0 points  (0 children) | Copy

Nope sorry i don't agree with you

[–]Colombian-mra1 point2 points  (0 children) | Copy

Actually statistics are skewed to exaggerate the amount of homeless women

[–]ZeZapasta0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy

"Yeah well they're there, you just don't see them because they're such victims to MEN!"

Jesus christ man...

[–]laptopdragon0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy

isn't all shelter temporary?
Even the Pyramids are temporary on a long enough time line.

Also... isn't any shelter (stated temporary) exclude those who have it from being "homeless" (aka without shelter)?

So, if you're female, you get temporary shelter on the grounds that being homeless affects them MORE than men b/c vagina...

[–]TragicOptimistic0 points1 point  (1 child) | Copy

Most of the time shelters don't discriminate but as a female I have volunteered in a women's shelter. It wasn't for homeless per se. It was for women who were coming out of domestic abuse situations. It can happen to both genders but that is typically why they segregate shelters for one gender or another. I would love to help out men in domestic violence shelters too but unfortunately the statistics and reporting is quite low for that and mostly there are no mens shelters that deal with that. And like the women's shelters won't allow male staff I am sure that the men's shelters if they were for domestic abuse sufferers would not allow women volunteers. I don't think there is any sexism involved and if someone is homeless you should do your best to help them regardless of their gender that's called being a good human being. I just don't want to feel like a hypocrite volunteered to help displaced women in shelters, but you guys have read my explanation.

[–]DeDevilsLettuce1 point2 points  (0 children) | Copy

Men won't report domestic violence because the police come then they arrest the man even though he is covered in bloody cuts tell him he's going away and threaten to beat him up then they find out it was the woman hitting the man so they turn around and get him out of the police car still cuffed while she's crying about how she didn't mean it the whole street is watching and they find cocaine in the house because she's a mess the kids are woken up and speak to careworkers the police don't remove her from the house like they did him they comfort her and tell her it will all get sorted out he drops the charges because she says if he doesn't she's going to be difficult about custody... This actually happened in the UK to my friend luckily he has full custody he let's her see them after everything

[–]nogg_te_dogg0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy

The reason 75% of homeless people are men is because women generally favor going into low lying jobs like prostitution in order to stay off the streets. This lady must be a methhead or something to believe that homeless women are mole people

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
