How about we see more women mechanic? What blue collar jobs it not good enough for all this "equality"

More front line soldiers, More oil rig workers, More offshore lobster fishermen.

The inequality in jobs that are physically hard or dangerous is palpable.

As someone studying Cybersecurity, I’m sick of these feminists and their rally to get more women in STEM. I’m a female also. This example right here is the reason why. Pushing the men away so women can get what they want. Part of me also thinks these same feminists would drop out of med school cause “it’s too hard and oppressive!!!” What’s wrong If STEM is made dominated? Where’s the fuss that some fields are female dominated?

I was in maths, but I remember the CS major (in the 1990s) had 3 girls out of 50 people, and I remember how everybody was bending over backwards to please them, or help them, they were real princesses, and they clearly didn't seem to be 'oppressed'.

I am now a software developer, and in my experience, you're not going to find many woman writing a super high-performance implementation (say, a compiler). However, I am a man, and I would suck at that myself, and it takes compulsive obsessed geeks to be good at that.
But what I often noticed is that women write code in a much more readable way, they're much better organised, which makes them pretty good at code architecture, managing projects, and overall makes them very productive.

I can relate as a female. I suck at math too. When I try to write code I try to make it look as pretty as possible. I don’t really code these days since I’m Done with comp sci as my core concentration.

At my previous job when we looked at resumes, we interviewed 25% of male candidates, and except for someone who'd write "fuck you" on their resume, 100% of female candidates.
So the idea that women are discriminated against in STEM is just unbelievable to me.

[–]danyixa9 points10 points  (0 children) | Copy

I don’t see the discrimination either. I have never faced such treatment for being a woman in my studies. I even held a position as a club officer for the cyber security club on campus. I was always the only girl at the meeting and I was fine.

I mean anecdotally in high school, I only seen girls with beautifully organized notes. I have never seen a male be so organized. Even the biggest "Nerds"

[–]pandolfio0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy

I think that explains why girls do better than boys at school, but it reverses in college.
The reason I can think of is that girls have a very conventional way of looking at things, they know how to fit in the mold, and organizing their notes beautifully may be a lot of work, but it's not really difficult. But as soon as there starts to be more depth, their organisational skills might not help them that much, and that's where boys ability to focus on a single thing helps them a lot.

Boys are indeed more prone to obsess about things, be it videogames, boardgames, or science. They're more often willing to sacrifice their social life or other things in order to excel at stuff. This is not specifically a 'good' thing about boys. It's just a difference between boys and girls.

I work in Cybersecurity consulting and this push to hire women will be the death of us. We allow women from non-related majors to apply in an effort to boost our numbers and look “woke.” We are encouraged to be more lenient with our interview questions as well (female candidates get asked more behavioral questions while males get more technical questions).

We have some amazing team members who are women, but they aren’t amazing because they are women. You need a background and a strong interest in the field to add value, not just a vagina.

We’ve missed out on strong male applicants because presence was given to women and have had excellent female team members leave because everyone assumes they are some token hire.

Bring any of this up and you end up doing admin work on shitty projects as punishment...

[–]danyixa2 points3 points  (0 children) | Copy

That’s what I don’t like. Women with no background in infosec getting an infosec role. They haven’t even worked hard for it like I am right now.

Also this push puts women who truly deserve their positions to shame because people will assume she’s in her position for being a woman. It damages both men and women.

[–]pandolfio3 points4 points  (0 children) | Copy

This is all a result of the post-modernist philosophy, that the world needs to be seen by oppressors and oppressed, and that, in order to achieve equality, it's "ok" if there are some collateral damage / injustices on the way there.
This is a despicable philosophy, but what makes it worse is that feminists even deny that they don't give a damn about injustices. Just see Alyssa Milano bashing Kavanaugh and willing to destroy his career based on very vague allegations. Oh wait, she came round that, saying that Joe Biden deserve's due diligence (coz yeah, men can sometimes be innocent, who'd have thunk?)

Truth be told thats my opinion on everything. I want quality not sjw quotas and I'm more likely to get that with a man than a woman.

[–]laptopdragon1 point2 points  (0 children) | Copy

perhaps unpopular opinion but after some research I will never choose a female doctor over a male. Too many problems, accidents and with the feminist movement too much mis-directed hatred.

Just because they attend, it doesn’t mean that they will succeed. Men are more competent, which is why we dominate the fields we dominate.

I mean the title is just a statement, how is that “celebrating” it?
