Lesbians VS Gay Men

Feminists love to talk about “male privilege” but I’ve noticed that lesbians and bisexual women are more socially acceptable than gay and bisexual men. I’m a bisexual woman and aside from my parents telling me I’m just confused, some homophobes telling me I’m going to hell, and this one asshole accusing me of coming out for attention, my coming out journey has been pretty easy. I didn’t expect it would be so easy to come out. I know that if I was a guy and I came out as bisexual that it would be harder.

That’s somewhat true. I see a lot more people shaming lesbians for not dating trans women than gay men for not dating trans men. I also feel that both sides have a Lesbians VS Gay Men mentality. There’s definitely a very big stigma against bi men though.

As a gay man, I hate feminists. They seem annoyed by this, almost as if I owe them something.

Hate is a strong word. How about you say you dislike their ideology or disagree with them?

How about THEY stop saying things like ‘kill all men’ (Australian news columnist and published author, Clem Ford)

[–]Rozycka123[S] 0 points1 point  (2 children) | Copy

Not all of them say that though

[–]KindPrecise0 points1 point  (1 child) | Copy

You’re right. Most of them just want men eradicated

Not really

I asked this question to a friend of mine once. He said that if a man has intercourse with another man, the sperm cells that are lost are potential children being "killed" which is an ideology that neither of us agree with but whatever

Okay, call me anything names you like, but I'm not a fan of LGBTQ, but my agenda is I can live with abnormality, but I can't stand absurdity (feminism).

[–]Rozycka123[S] 1 point2 points  (12 children) | Copy

LGBT people aren’t an abnormality

[–]PaladinGamer5630 points1 point  (3 children) | Copy

To me they are. If you disagree, try and convince me instead of calling me a bigot. I respect your decision, and I will not attempt to dissuade you.

[–]Rozycka123[S] 0 points1 point  (2 children) | Copy

I didn’t call you a bigot so don’t make a strawman argument

[–]PaladinGamer5630 points1 point  (1 child) | Copy

Oh, I was just thinking in advance, because some people did that to me, which only strengthened my belief.

[–]Rozycka123[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy

But I didn’t. When you assume you make an ass out of u and me.

[–]pandolfio-1 points0 points  (7 children) | Copy

of course they are an abnormality, the same way being short-sighted, diabetic, or taller than 7 feet. Abnormal just means something that does not fall within the norm, i.e. the majority.

[–]Rozycka123[S] 1 point2 points  (6 children) | Copy

Well then he should say unusual or different, abnormality just has a bad connotation to it

[–]pandolfio0 points1 point  (4 children) | Copy

And btw I think the reason people don't like the word 'abnormal' is that they have trouble with the idea that there is a norm. Terms like 'heteronormativity' are complete aberrations. It consists in having a problem with the fact that the majority of people have some features, and this majority needs to make special efforts to pretend the norm does not exist.

[–]Rozycka123[S] 0 points1 point  (3 children) | Copy

Then in that case I’ll assume you’re Asian

[–]pandolfio0 points1 point  (2 children) | Copy

Huh?

[–]Rozycka123[S] 1 point2 points  (1 child) | Copy

Most people in the world are Asian so for now on that’s the default and everyone else is an abnormality

[–]pandolfio-1 points0 points  (0 children) | Copy

Terrible analogy. What you don't seem to get is that things can be a function of context. Sure, if you do not manage to get any context out of the fact that I am on reddit and writing in English, then, by all means, assume that I am Asian.

In some professions, being gay can be the norm, in (most) others it's not. In some professions, wearing glasses is the norm, in the wider population it's not. In some places / races, having some characteristics may be the norm, in some others it's not.

I am left-handed, and when I grew up I did not expect people to pretend that being right-handed is not the norm. I actually grew up in a community and went to a school where all my friends mother tongue was different from the local official language. I knew I was a minority, and I did not expect people to start pretending like I am the majority. I just adapted.

That's just a product of the snowflakiness of people.

Abnormal is a perfect word that says what it says: away from the norm.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
