I've been wanting to quit pornography for a while now. The ultimate goal is to quit it forever and completely gain a healthy sexuality without having ED or low libido etc. However, I can't seem to go more than 4 to 5 days without relapsing. I'm tired of this shit. Ahen I relapse I feel like hell. And it seems like when I reach day 4 even a tiny trigger is enough to set the fuse. How did you successfully quit (also, how did it benefit your sex life)?

This book was posted on the main TRP sub a few months ago, give it a read.

Worked great. Realizing that the only way to actually get rid of the urges is to break free of the addiction helped a lot.

Yes, and when you're an addict you see only one way to get rid of the urges: relapse. Realizing that healthy people don't have those urges and that the only way out is to not give in was a huge step for my own recovery. Since then I have gotten back on track in my self improvement journey, thanks to TRP and the PMO Hackbook.

worked for me, havent watched for 3 weeks now and dont plan to

Good book for those who haven't read 'Allen Carr's easy way to quit smoking' as it is literally the same but with cigarettes replaced with porn

This worked for me, I feel great

no problems here (had a 3 month fast during Q). But out of curiosity eli5 to me.

[–][deleted] 77 points78 points  (7 children) | Copy

Best advice I can give is that you need to internalize the notion that pornography does nothing but take, it sucks your energy/time/confidence/libido/etc.... you literally gain nothing from watching porn, not even pleasure. You only think it’s enjoyable but really it’s 1/10 as good as real life and a thousand times worse for your health.

I highly recommend anyone who calls themself Redpilled to value a porn free life as a top priority, especially when you are young.

[–]throwawaylilbastard[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children) | Copy

Damn man, this hit home. Thanks.

[–]thetruthishere_5 points6 points  (0 children) | Copy

It changes your brain wiring along with "sucks your energy/time/confidence/libido". Its like Heroin.

Its like you have to remap your brain.

Its nice to see some men getting rid of porn in their life.

To add, as an escort I can pick out my porn addicted clients, they are so desensitized they have such a hard time getting off. You have to death grip them.

[–]ntkstudy441 point2 points  (2 children) | Copy

Does it actually help to no fap, like what are your results?

[–]DanTactical10 points11 points  (0 children) | Copy

You don't have to stop fapping, just stop looking at porn. It's toxic for your brain and many don't even realize it.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children) | Copy

The point isn’t that you need to do “Nofap” to get benefits.

The point is that you CANNOT actively sell yourself short by watching porn and jacking off, and expect to be as well off compared to if you didn’t.

I think of it like compound interest. If I add a little everyday and let it compound I’m way further ahead than where I would be if it didn’t compound, and miles ahead of where I’d be if I had taken a little away everyday.

Porn does nothing but take

That’s kinda why I’m a little tentative to stop masturbating altogether. I don’t like the wet dreams, and as I’m 16, im not doing my own laundry, so it’s always a little weird.

[–]hawaiianboomerang16 points17 points  (0 children) | Copy

watch the hot girls wanted documentary on Netflix it shows you the truth behind all this stuff your fantasizing about it's not all that glamorous. helps you realize a few things.

So the day I was able to successfully quit is when I finally realized that the action of jerking off was never as fulfilling as I had hoped it would be.

This is the same way I quit using nicotine. I would always smoke with the expectation that the buzz is going to be as good as the first/best time I experienced a nicotine buzz

I finally understood that the feeling that I was about to chase by jerking off/smoking is not actually the feeling that I would end up achieving

It was like constantly expecting something to taste like pepperoni pizza (because that’s how it tasted the first/best time) when in reality it always ends up tasting like a raw potato

Every time I wanted to jerk/smoke I would remind myself that if I do it, I will be disappointed when it taste the raw potato

[–]Secret_Twitch53 points54 points  (10 children) | Copy

It's just like any other habit. Once you get past 2 weeks or so, it becomes the new normal for you. You can do it. Stay busy doing other things. During the first 2 weeks or so, when you think about it, find something else to do immediately. After 2 weeks, you won't even think about it anymore. Just stop it already.

I quit after this one night, my wife was in the shower and I had already fucked her once that afternoon and I figured she wasn't going to be down for another round. I pulled up some porn hub and let it rip. It didn't even feel that good. Next thing I know, the old lady comes out of the bathroom in high heels, stockings and a garter belt and a freshly shaved pussy. I'm not a young buck anymore so after dropping 2 loads in the matter of hours, I didn't think I was gonna be able to answer the bell. I had to real quick pop a 30mg blue chew and tie her to the bed. I went to work slow but it took like a half hour for that thing to kick in, then it took another half hour for me to finish again.

Another time I was with one of my side pieces, who is a solid 9. I had jerked off that morning and this was in the afternoon. She wanted to give me a quick blowjob. Again, I didn't think I could answer the bell, but who turns down a blow job? She got to work and about 5 minutes in I could feel my dick starting to go limp. No shit I have this piece of ass on her knees blowing me and I had my eyes closed imagining the video I watched earlier with this blonde getting gang banged by 5 black dudes.

After that I was like no fucking way I'm done with porn and jerking off altogether. That was like 5 years ago. Since then I have had no problems whatsoever. I had gotten used to the feel of my own hand on my cock. Now, the sensation I feel when a woman touches me is amazing. Quitting porn and jerking off has definitely helped my sex life.

[–]weems1328 points29 points  (3 children) | Copy

get past 2 weeks, it becomes the new normal for you

I’m sorry but this is just not true. I, and many others, have hit two weeks

[–]RivenHalf13 points14 points  (0 children) | Copy

Yeah habits and addictions are two completely different ballparks. I've seen the worse of alcoholics go a week or two cold turkey dry no problem but they are far from out of the ballpark. I feel like most people can easily no fap a week or so, maybe even in a month but the first time you give into the urges again, you are knee deep in it. There is the rare person that can go cold turkey and just be done but that is the super exception and not the rule

[–]DaLaohu4 points5 points  (0 children) | Copy

The numbers I typically hear to kill porn addiction are three weeks (PMO Hackbook) and 90 Days (NoFap).

[–]thetruthishere_1 point2 points  (0 children) | Copy

Porn can be a serious addiction like Heroin, you just don't get over it in two weeks..

Fuck bro I think I gotta go no fap now.... I had a literally 9(LA 9) at my house over the weekend and I couldn’t get it up!!!! Big tits fat asss busty sexy freak waiting for me to fuck her brains out and I couldn’t fuck ever after her blowing the shit out of my dick.... getting depressed thinking about it tbh but fuck looks like I’m on day 2.5 of this journey 😢

[–]AlCopperhead0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy

To be real dawg you saying this does not help especially because most of us don’t have a kinky wife and her comin out all kinky, if anything that makes people wanna jerk more man, lol.

[–]strainer1237 points8 points  (3 children) | Copy

Well, if you really feel like you want to quit, do 4 days, then try 5, I know it sounds stupid but you can't touch your dick, just don't do it, like when you want to quit smoking, you're not an automaton, you have to consciously go out, buy cigs, buy a lighter, put that shit in your mouth, light it and drag, if you don't do all these conscious choices and movements, you won't smoke, if you don't open your trousers, stick your pecka out and tug on it, you won't jerk off.

edit: Want to stop porn? Stop using relationship apps, badoo, plenty of fish, Tinder, Happn, stop going to Instagram to look at those hot bitches, to us guys a girl with a nice body is a trigger to go watch porn, if you avoid any kind of sexual stimuli its easier to abstain from porn and masturbation.

[–]throwawaylilbastard[S] 4 points5 points  (2 children) | Copy

It's quite difficult, especially cause hot women's are basically projected everywhere. I should really consider deleting social media, although I have removed models which I was previously perving on.

[–]thetruthishere_1 point2 points  (0 children) | Copy

Im all for getting rid of social media unless its for business. Cut the noise.

I dumped it 7+ years ago outside a couple business accounts.

[–]AlCopperhead0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy

I don’t know about deleting social media but just know this in your mind seeing that is a bait and see it as a test, if you see a woman who you don’t follow, say this to yourself “I don’t know this bitch, get the fuck off my screen”. Maybe any girl you follow who post ass picks, unfollow them and follow the people with good morals not soft core pics

[–]TaintofGold7 points8 points  (0 children) | Copy

I never had a porn problem per say, but one day the thought of all the sweaty, ugly bastards that have wanked off to this entered my mind and I've not really gone back since. It's gross content for gross people that's my take.

Shouldn't you go to the nofap sub?

I don't advocate nofap. I think that it's natural for man to want release and there's nothing wrong to get a quick release all by yourself, provided that you don't overdo it.

And no, you don't gain superpowers with nofap.

If you find yourself "addicted", it is because you succumbed to your own desire. Tell me which of the following is easier for you? * Watch porn and pound your wee wee * Go to gym, engage in a hobby, read books, start a side business, get a promotion at work, build a fucking wooden table, get rejected for sex quintuple times, etc.

Your answer is obvious and so is your behavior. Heck if you even start lifting the correct way, you will not even be asking how to quit porn.

I advise you to, if corona lockdown is over, stay out until it's time to sleep. Then figure out what you want to do while you're outside. Do it 1 month straight, if you still misses porn, I'm buying you a pornhub subscription. (edit: no social media too).

[–]throwawaylilbastard[S] 5 points6 points  (2 children) | Copy

The question implies quitting an addiction that provides instant gratification. Dropping easy dopamine sources is part of TRP so I don't think Im in the wrong sub.

[–]AlCopperhead1 point2 points  (0 children) | Copy

Yea people on NoFap literally do it because they think not doing it gets them more woman... ITS NOT ABOUT THAT. If you don’t get it, find your own reason to why releasing is bad, why do you think it’s bad for me I believe it hinders my fitness.

[–]cydestiny0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy

Then why aren't you succeeding? Man needs sex. You can't just simply shut things off to the extreme. What you want to do is what the NoFap dudes did - the extreme - the ultimatum - quit the porn "addiction".

What I am suggesting is, find things to do, fill up the empty space in your life then if you felt like fapping, do it and don't feel bad about it. Take the chance for the post nut clarity to reflect about what you could have done better and do it.

Use the things in life for your own benefit to launch you further not against you. Sure you can go for the ultimatum and go monk mode but then what?

All of those ED and libido shit is stemming from your physiological mental state, once you learn to accept what you did was normal, and put your focus back to living your life, they will go away.

[–]RivenHalf2 points3 points  (0 children) | Copy

There's a lot of weird shit that goes into NoFap. Dude's quit jerking off and suddenly think they're going to grow wings and fly and cure AIDS. Credit to what they do but the community is weird as fuck at times.

[–]babban_rao0 points1 point  (2 children) | Copy

NoFap really gave me superpowers. It is legit. I am on a 260 day streak right now.

[–]cydestiny1 point2 points  (1 child) | Copy

Yeah right because previously you were weak as fuck. That's why this superficial ritual is giving you "superpowers".

It is a good thing though, at least you put your shit together. But don't sell me this, I have superpowers since the day I'm born.

[–]babban_rao0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy

Don't buy it until you try it. Go for 90 day reboot and see for yourself. If you are already a superhuman, this 90 day reboot would be easy as fuck for you.

[–]jeffwingersballs1 point2 points  (2 children) | Copy

If you can consistently go four days without fapping, have a release and then go back to no fapping for the same time frame, I think that's pretty good. Just keep doing that and look to expand it to longer if you're able to.

[–]throwawaylilbastard[S] 1 point2 points  (1 child) | Copy

The thing is, I want to kick it off completely, for it is another fast dopamine source which drains me of my energy and motivation. As mentioned, I feel like shit when I endulge myself again and again.

[–]jeffwingersballs1 point2 points  (0 children) | Copy

Every four days is not "again and again". Are you saying four days is a rarity?

[–]ZealousFeet1 point2 points  (0 children) | Copy

I've had trouble quitting too. I took the advice of putting your energy into more productive activities. It works. Also an FWB wouldn't hurt as well. I'm about two weeks strong, and I feel good. It is a journey though. Quitting builds discipline.

[–]RosemanButcher1 point2 points  (0 children) | Copy

Over time i grow a hatred towards a certain camera angle with the dude's asshole on center. Then i started seeing flaws. This includes females not actually having any fun(it's more like a duty to them, just finish it so i can get my paycheck and leave), dudes caring too much about camera angle than doing his job(could be directors decision but still takes away the fun), working like hell for 40 minutes only to spit out few drops(mainly because of doing multiple takes but hurts the viewer's expectations), over acting(one partner has "the facial expression of heavyweight" while other partner is clearly barely feeling anything). So the amount of time spent searchint for good stuff exceeded the actual activity. I don't have much expectations from a porn movie, just have a little chemistry ffs.

I realized i can have a blast in my head, with excellent acting and stuff. Toned down porn to minimum. No more shamefully closing 36 tabs.

Fapping is a healthy thing. It releases lots of good hormones that keeps your brain on positive side, and it's all natural -unlike drugs. It also clears your mind, you'll realize you make logical decisions. Just use a lubricant and don't overdo it.

PM me your address warlock. You decide when it comes off. I've read your overconsumpion posts by the way, nicely written. Guess I gotta read the porn one again and again until I successfully remove that shit from my life.

[–]gbnz871 point2 points  (0 children) | Copy

To truly change you have to hit rock bottom. You look like you are at that tipping point where you want to change. Its never going to be perfect, some weeks or days are easier than others. Pornography in particular gets easier to avoid over time.

I like to take a 3rd person look at the behaviour and just try and laugh that you really want to watch 2 other people have sex.

The no fap and no porn effects different people in different ways. For me I feel no fap in particular is essential. I push myself to talk to more women and definetely take more risks. My friends cant believe that quiet old me can go up and approach a table of women and start a conversation. Whether I have higher test levels or its just due to increased horniness its debatable but it certainly turns me from a cub to a tiger.

[–]Flaky_Lakey1 point2 points  (0 children) | Copy

You're probably substituting porn for something else. It could be for compassion, excitement or something else entirely. You have to figure out whatever it is that you're substituting porn for and the try to incorporate that more into your life.

Once you do, your urges will be at a minimum; if they're even there at all.

[–]PrettyBarbiePerson3 points4 points  (0 children) | Copy

You might not gain a “superpower” but you definitely gain an energy that wasn’t there before that’s there to help you survive more effectively

[–]Dragolet0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy

[–]huey7640 points1 point  (3 children) | Copy

Let me ask you something: are you doing the same thing over and over again? As in, in trying to quit, you approach the problem the same way every time you relapse.

[–]throwawaylilbastard[S] -1 points0 points  (2 children) | Copy

Hmm. I guess I do, but with the mindset of "Okay this Sunday I watch and Monday we start the week fresh and keep it this way." only to relapse on Friday or something similar

[–]huey7641 point2 points  (1 child) | Copy

Ah, oversaturation. I myself used this a lot in the past. But really, what you have to do is try a different approach. What are some things you are doing right now that increase the likelihood of you relapsing? You don't have to tell me, but be honest with yourself. Are you browsing too much social media? Do you let your fantasies control you? Got any hobbies?

[–]throwawaylilbastard[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children) | Copy

I do browse sometimes, but I wouldn't say I'm addicted to social media, more like a time killer from me aside from computer games.I have a job, I am gradually starting to introduce weight lifting into my life and I am on the verge of launching my first ever blog. I want to pick up my old rusty electric guitar again too. The times I let my fantasies control me and are the times I relapse, and porn is such a great(in reality is actually fucking your brain over) embellishment, that's why I'm hooked.

[–]ThenIJizzedInMyPants0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy

[–]awihsoj0 points1 point  (1 child) | Copy

Make p0rn inaccessible as much as possible. For me, my main source was my phone. What I did was downloaded the app BlockerX. It detects p0rnagraphic keywords and websites, then proceeds to close you out of what you're doing. Because you can turn it on and off, I also downloaded the app StayFocused. I blocked myself ever accessing the app so the function cant be turned off. 50 days into nofap. You can do this too!

[–]throwawaylilbastard[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children) | Copy

Well done! Will consider it.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (1 child) | Copy

I've been NoFap for over a year. I have more energy, my head is clearer. I feel confident and more centered. Not fapping and given in gives me a strange form of pride and power, if I gave in I would feel depressed as fuck and would immediately regret it.

The NoFap subreddit is a bit too dogmatic for my tastes, though. Creepy fucks over there.

Just replace addiction with a more productive one like learning a new language.

[–]throwawaylilbastard[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy

Whats so goddamn difficult?

Every time you are about to do ANYTHING ask yourself of you have a positive expected value from it?

Positive expected value is your estimation that an action will yield a positive value in your life. If the answer is no then don’t fucking do it. Assess solely on quantifiable measures (honestly, your feelings are probably so fucked right now, what feels right is not what you want) and proceed.

This is basic self control garbage, fucking stop.

[–]throwawaylilbastard[S] 1 point2 points  (3 children) | Copy

It could be the little voice in my head saying "Oh come on just this once, you can start tommorow and quit forever" which ends up happening over and over.

[–]Andrew54321-1 points0 points  (2 children) | Copy

Positive expected value? Yes or no. If you can’t give yourself orders and follow through then you deserve to suffer the life of a slave.

[–]throwawaylilbastard[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child) | Copy

No positive value aside from the pleasure factor. Your last statement just condescends the vast majority of the earth's population as almost (could actually be everyone) struggles with something/has vices. They know how to defeat those vices but don't actually follow that plan for x, y reasons. Could be an insufficient amount of discipline, or a shitty combating plan or something else.

[–]Andrew543210 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy

No positive value aside from the pleasure factor.

See the part about feelings.

Son, you fucked yourself up so bad, you take pleasure in your own destruction.

Your last statement just condescends the vast majority of the earth's population as almost (could actually be everyone) struggles with something/has vices.

Just the slaves bro. Anybody who calls their own shot is a master. Maybe you can be a master of yourself 1% of the day. Make it 2%. Unless you’re a slave. Then you can’t.

They know how to defeat those vices but don't actually follow that plan for x, y reasons. Could be an insufficient amount of discipline, or a shitty combating plan or something else.

Wasting time complaining instead of progressing is the case 99% of time.

For me the healthy medium is to just masturbate without porn. It can boost your sex performance if you are mindful of the sensations you're stroking. Become comfortable with what speed and intensity get you close to orgasm.
