While researching the effects of N-Count and it's effect on divorce rate I found an study that had the above findings.

https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2016/06/160606082607.htm#:~:text=Divorce%20rates%20went%20up%20the,with%203%20to%209%20partners.

In new research published online through the Institute for Family Studies, Wolfinger identified several interesting trends: Divorce rates have fallen for the shrinking percent of American women who marry as virgins, and stayed essentially the same for those with one or two premarital sex partners. Divorce rates went up the most for women with 10 plus sexual partners before marriage.

But the surprising thing, Wolfinger said, is that women with exactly two premarital sex partners have consistently higher divorce rates than women with 3 to 9 partners. "In short: if you're going to have comparisons to your [future] husband, it's best to have more than one," said Wolfinger. He added that sexual behavior has changed significantly throughout recent decades.

Why does having specifically two partners makes you more likely for divorce than 3 premarital partners? Is it 'fear of missing out'? But then why would a virgin not experience it? And if having more than one man to compare your husband to makes you less critical, then wouldn't having more than 10 partners be the most humbling? Although from this article women who have 10+ partners are the highest category for divorce.

Is it possible that a woman who had two partners prior compares their husband more harshly?

EDIT: I misread it to mean one of the two partners included the husband. It read TWO PREMARITAL partners, which would only include the husband if they had sex prior to marriage.

Here's a nifty chart for distribution of partners over the decades.
