A friend of mines recently told me that he lost his virginity when he was 25 which shocked me, didn't even know in this day and age that guys were virgins for that long. What surprised me even more was that the guy was not bad looking at all, he kinda looks like actor Boyd Holbrook. Even more surprising because he is a charismatic and cool guy, funny as well.

So I asked him why it took so long for him to do the deed and he said it is because of where he grew up and it took him a long time to finally get the money to get out.

Claims that he spent his childhood in a big beautiful city but moved to a smaller podunk town in one of the more poor states in the country.

Said that the high school he went to had mostly overweight trashy girls that he was not attracted to even though a lot of them did flirt a lot with him and try to date him. He described his high school as "people from the trailers and hood thrown into one building", said he was fortunate to get out alive.

After high school he spent time working to save some money for college and spent a couple years doing that. Went off to commuter school where most women were married, older, and no one was really looking to make friends. Tells me he transferred to a bigger college but as a transfer, it was tough to make friends and his school was an engineering school so not a lot of girls.

He says it was only after he moved to a big city that his dating life took off, he lost his virginity at 25 to a German woman who was visiting the country and claims he went on to sleep with a lot more women.

We blame lack of looks, awkwardness, and being geeky as reasons for guys being virgin for that long but I never considered environment as a legitimate reason.

How legitimate of a reason is environment?

In b4 friend is OP

In b4 OP is a virgin trying to justify virginity

In b4 no one actually answers the question
